\n Foreign desk: China\u2019s Genocide<\/strong><\/p>\n

The \u201cintent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group\u201d defines a genocide \u2014 a standard, charges New York magazine\u2019s Andrew Sullivan, that leaves \u201cno doubt\u201d that \u201cCommunist China is a genocidal state.\u201d Beijing aims to \u201ccoerce, kill, reeducate and segregate its Uighur Muslim population and to pursue eugenicist policies to winnow their ability to sustain themselves.\u201d On top of \u201cthe re-education camps,\u201d an Associated Press report last week showed that \u201cthe regime is forcibly sterilizing Uighur women inside and outside the camps\u201d \u2014 a glaring example of \u201cpure racial social<\/a> engineering.\u201d Given the Beijing regime\u2019s \u201cgenocidal obscenity,\u201d we have to start treating it \u201cas the rogue dictatorship it is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Culture critic: How To Rename Landmarks<\/strong><\/p>\n

If protesters really want to convince their fellow Americans that we should \u201crename landmarks currently named after Confederate general<\/a>s and leaders,\u201d they\u2019re \u201cgoing about it all wrong,\u201d argues National Review\u2019s Jim Geraghty. Instead of insisting that a statue or fort we \u201cnever saw as harmful to anyone\u201d is now \u201cmorally abhorrent,\u201d argue that we should instead honor \u201cunder-recognized, exceptional and heroic Americans,\u201d including people of color. \u201cDon\u2019t erase parts of the portrait of America,\u201d in other words \u2014 \u201cwiden it.\u201d Unfortunately, Geraghty suspects, many of the protesters don\u2019t really want to convince their fellow citizens but, rather, just exacerbate \u201cthe contest of wills.\u201d<\/p>\n

One \u201chighly dedicated\u201d person has been \u201cscrubbing controversial aspects\u201d of Sen. Kamala Harris\u2019 \u201c\u200a\u2018tough-on-crime\u2019 record\u201d from her Wikipedia page, \u00adreports The Intercept\u2019s A\u00edda Ch\u00e1vez \u2014 right as the Joe Biden campaign is considering the ex-prosecutor for the veep spot. The anonymous user has \u201cmade hundreds of edits to Harris\u2019 page throughout the last several months,\u201d deleting sections about \u201cher strong support\u201d of prosecutors who \u201cengaged in rampant misconduct\u201d and her 2003 assertion that \u201cit is not progressive to be soft on crime,\u201d among other things. The edits have led to a \u201cwar\u201d between the user and \u201cother Wikipedia editors,\u201d who noted the user seems to have pulled quotations \u201cdirectly from\u201d Harris\u2019 \u201cpress releases and campaign literature\u201d \u2014 a war that \u201cthe pro-Harris editor is currently winning.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tyranny watch: So Long, Hong Kong<\/strong><\/p>\n

With China passing a \u201csweeping national-security law\u201d that \u201ceffectively criminalizes dissent,\u201d Spectator USA\u2019s Melissa Chen laments, it\u2019s \u201ctime to sing a requiem for Hong Kong.\u201d British rule had \u201cshielded\u201d the territory \u201cfrom the disastrous consequences of Mao\u2019s policies,\u201d and Hong Kong has always \u201csought to emphasize its apartness from China.\u201d Its \u201csense of cultural separatism threatens China\u2019s overriding national interest, so Beijing designed its security law precisely to make expressions of Hong Kong\u2019s unique identity and conceptions of self-image more difficult.\u201d But \u201cwithout its cultural and intellectual DNA, Hong Kong simply isn\u2019t Hong Kong.\u201d Milton Friedman was right when he declared: \u201cHong Kong is the bellwether. If the Chinese stick to their agreement to let Hong Kong go its own path, then China will also go that way. If they don\u2019t, that is a very bad sign.\u201d<\/p>\n

Iconoclast: The Overclass Rebels<\/strong><\/p>\n

They \u00addemand that the billionaires be soaked to pay for socialism (translation: Mom and Dad need to increase my allowance).\u201d No doubt, \u201cmany of today\u2019s big-city riot ninjas will look back in the future with pride on their nights of prancing around in black leotards and spray-painting \u2018BLM\u2019 and \u2018F\u200a-\u200a-\u200ak Trump\u2019 on downtown buildings.\u201d<\/p>\n
