The Chris Pratt<\/strong> sci-fi action flick\u00a0The Tomorrow War<\/em><\/strong> is headed to Amazon Prime Video in time for the July 4 weekend. The Chris McKay<\/strong>-directed pic was originally set up at Paramount and intended to open in theaters on December 25, 2020. But the COVID-19 pandemic put the kibosh on those plans, and earlier this year reports surfaced that Amazon was considering picking up the movie. Now, it\u2019s official: Amazon has the film and will release it this July.<\/p>\n

July 2, 2021<\/strong>, to be exact. That will give viewers a chance to stream the film at home during the 4th of July weekend \u2013 unless they want to leave the house and watch\u00a0Top Gun: Maverick<\/em>, which will open in theaters on July 1. Both\u00a0Tomorrow War<\/em> and\u00a0Top Gun<\/em> come from Skydance Media<\/a>, which makes Skydance poised to own Independence Day weekend this year.
\nIn The Tomorrow War<\/em>, \u201cthe world is stunned when a group of time travel<\/a>ers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Pratt). Determined to save the world for his young daughter, Dan teams up with a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski<\/strong>) and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons<\/strong>) in a desperate quest to rewrite the fate of the planet.\u201d<\/p>\n
