To nobody\u2019s surprise, Angel Hernandez is the early leader in the clubhouse for worst called game of the year.<\/p>\n

The frequently criticized MLB umpire was singled out by the Twitter<\/a> account Umpire Auditor<\/a> for missing 24 balls and strikes calls on Tuesday, giving him a correct call percentage of 83.2. Two calls in particular were posted by the Twitter account, called third strikes on Alex Bregman and Martin Maldonado of the Astros.<\/p>\n

This is nothing new. Hernandez has been a target of complaints by teams and fans for years.<\/p>\n

In July of 2017, he filed a federal lawsuit, alleging racial discrimination by MLB against him after not being included in World Series<\/a> games and crew chief promotions. MLB, however, won the case last month, because it was concluded by the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York that \u201cthat no reasonable juror could find that MLB\u2019s stated explanation is a pretext for discriminatory motive,\u201d and \u201cThe evidence shows beyond genuine dispute that an umpire\u2019s leadership and situation management carried the day in MLB\u2019s promotion decisions.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
