Yes, Dr. Seuss Enterprises owns the rights to the six books it discontinued over a \u201cfew offending pictures and words.\u201d But if \u201cwe insist on holding cultural history to contemporary standards, what will we have left?\u201d And let\u2019s face it, \u201cof all the racist, sexist, classist things children are exposed to, decades-old children\u2019s books seem pretty low on the list. Consider our de facto segregated public schools and neighborhoods, our crumbling de facto segregated public housing\u201d and \u201cthe shocking violence of everyday life to which so many children are exposed.\u201d But \u00ad\u201cattacking old books is easier than making the \u00ad<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> and economic changes that would improve the actual lives of real children and their parents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conservative: The Big Tech \u2018Conspiracy\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Would Adam Smith shrug at cancel culture if it\u2019s private corporations doing the dirty work? Many conservatives think so, assuming \u201cfree-market purity\u201d is on their side, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/spectator.us\/topic\/last-chance-end-tech-tyranny-silicon-valley-cancel-culture\/\">observes Daniel McCarthy in Spectator USA<\/a>. But in fact, the Scottish sage \u201cwarned in \u2018The Wealth of Nations\u2019 that \u2018people of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and \u00addiversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices.\u2019\u200a\u201d That\u2019s what\u2019s h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ening with Amazon\u2019s censorship of books like \u201cWhen Sally Became Harry\u201d and the Big Tech collusion to destroy Parler. \u201cThe tech companies that control and constrain online communications in the United States are indeed \u2018a conspiracy against the public,\u2019 not to raise prices \u2014 though that warrants a closer look \u2014 but to impose their politics and morals on everyone.\u201d To push back, Americans need a \u201cnew philosophical critique of this power and of the commissars who wield it\u201d \u2014 \u201ca critique as radical as the thought of Adam Smith was in 1776.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Media watch: Always the Same Frame<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first step to reform is admitting you have a problem. And the press simply can\u2019t do it,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/the-story-cannot-always-be-the-reaction-of-the-republican-party\/\">sighs National Review\u2019s Charles C.W. Cooke<\/a>. The \u00admedia insist on seeing every story as \u201cthe reaction of the Republican Party.\u201d Take \u201cAxios\u2019 summary of Sunday\u2019s \u201860 Minutes\u2019 debacle.\u201d Axios said Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is \u201cseizing on a juicy chance to ingratiate himself with the GOP base by bashing the media.\u201d That\u2019s the story \u2014 \u201chis reaction to being so brazenly lied about\u201d \u2014 not \u201cthe press\u2019 penchant for deliberately spreading baseless conspiracy theories.\u201d What matters \u201cis not that CBS\u2019 flagship \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>\u2019 show has exhibited such unyielding corruption,\u201d but that the show\u2019s \u201cvictim\u201d has received \u201ca political gift.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Legal beat: Biden To Rapidly Flip Courts Back<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlmost certainly by the end of this Congress, the majority of lower-court seats will be filled by Democratic appointees,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/washingtonmonthly.com\/2021\/04\/04\/biden-is-about-to-undo-trumps-judiciary-project\/\">reports Bill Scher at the Washington Monthly<\/a>. The reality is \u201cfull partisan and ideological control of the federal judiciary is elusive. By design.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Iconoclast: Videos Don\u2019t Tell the Full Story<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>People are suggesting we \u201cskip\u201d trials when videos capture crimes, like Derek Chauvin killing George Floyd \u2014 but, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/theweek.com\/articles\/974933\/should-derek-chauvin-convicted-by-video\">warns The Week\u2019s Bonnie Kristian<\/a>, that\u2019s \u201cfascism.\u201d As \u201cdigital surveillance expands,\u201d we should \u201ccommit ourselves to due process\u201d and reject the \u201carrogance and naivet\u00e9 required to imagine we have a right to forever alter a man\u2019s life because we think we absorbed the unfiltered truth from a camera.\u201d When watching a filmed event, we don\u2019t consider the context or what might be missing.
