But once audiences get a chance to actually see the show instead of just reading about its production, I expect it will be able to carve out a reputation of its own outside of Whedon\u2019s involvement.<\/p>\n<p>The premium cable channel has released a <em>The Nevers<\/em> featurette which introduces us to \u201cThe Touched,\u201d a group of women in Victorian England who have mysteriously been imbued with distinct superpowers. Check out the footage below.<br \/><span id=\"more-665506\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Nevers_Featurette\"><\/span>The Nevers Featurette<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Nevers: Discover the New Series | HBO\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eEk9-9eKjy8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->As you can see, Whedon\u2019s name is not mentioned at all in this featurette \u2013 probably because HBO may think it wise to avoid any link with him in the wake of the allegations and accusations that have surfaced over the past few months about his behavior on the set of <em>Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/em> (not to mention Cyborg actor Ray Fisher\u2019s continued crusade to get justice for what he sees as murky inappropriate behavior from Whedon during reshoots of <em>Justice League<\/em>). But showrunner <strong>Philippa Goslett<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>Mary Magdalene<\/em>, <em>How to Talk to Girls at Parties<\/em>) is now in charge of the series, and it sounds like she\u2019s inherited a show with some intriguing characters at its center and a phenomenal sense of world-building built around them.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the official synopsis of the show:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>August, 1896. Victorian London is rocked to its foundations by a supernatural event which gives certain people \u2013 mostly women \u2013 abnormal abilities, from the wondrous to the disturbing. But no matter their particular \u201cturns,\u201d all who belong to this new underclass are in grave danger.
