“#Mike Lindell claims ‘bots and trolls’ behind My Pillow petition<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

My Pillow guy Mike Lindell claims that \u201cbots and trolls\u201d are behind a popular petition urging major retailers to cut ties with his company \u2014 and he\u2019s hired private eyes to prove it.<\/p>\n

In an interview with The Post, Lindell blasted as fake a Change.org petition that\u2019s racked up about 105,000 signatures demanding Amazon, Walmart and Costco stop selling his My Pillow products over Lindell\u2019s continued efforts to sow doubts over Joe Biden\u2019s victory in the 2020 presidential election.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis petition was put up by companies that are full of bots and trolls,\u201d Lindell told The Post on Wednesday. \u201cAll they\u2019ve done is attack retailers. These are hired groups to attack retailers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked what evidence he has for his claims, Lindell admitted he\u2019s still trying to dig that up. He pointed instead to Facebook<\/a> profiles with \u201czero friends\u201d that have left negative comments on pages belonging to \u201cretailers that were attacked before.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve hired investigators out of my own pocket, huge companies to investigate who\u2019s behind these because somebody ordered these attacks,\u201d the embattled CEO said. \u201cChange.org, they\u2019re probably another attack group. We\u2019re gonna find out who\u2019s doing this to our country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Change.org, an online petition company with 400 million users,\u00a0shot down Lindell\u2019s claims, saying the MyPillow campaign was started by a real person and that all the signatures are authentic. The company also noted that other users have started petitions supporting Lindell.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur engineering team puts significant resources toward spam detection and prevention, from removing fake or inactive emails and verifying the authenticity of our users\u2019 email addresses to monitoring petitions for suspicious signatures,\u201d a\u00a0Change.org<\/a>\u00a0rep told The Post in a statement. \u201cIf we are made aware of any fraudulent signatures, we remove them immediately \u2014 and in this case, we can confirm that the signatures on this petition are not fraudulent.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBots and trolls\u201d are a common bogeyman for Lindell. He\u2019s previously blamed them<\/a> for boycott threats against My Pillow and alleged<\/a> in January that Dominion Voting Systems \u2014 which is suing him for $1.3 billion over his false accusations that the company stole votes \u2014 hired \u201cbots and trolls and went after all my vendors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lindell\u2019s repeated claims that the 2020 election was stolen from ex-President Donald Trump has already resulted in some 22 retailers dropping My Pillow products, which he has estimated cost him about $65 million in sales. <\/p>\n

The Change.org petition<\/a>, launched by California man James Lanigan in mid-January, calls for the nation\u2019s largest retailers to stop selling MyPillow products, including Bed Bath & Beyond, which has previously said it would phase out the products.<\/p>\n

\u201cTime to tell our major retailers to stop selling his products,\u201d the petition reads. \u201cWe will not support funding insurrectionists!\u201d<\/p>\n

Lanigan responded to The Post\u2019s query by texting, \u201d\u00a0I am not a bot.\u00a0I have been busy with nursing school and just finished clinicals.\u201d His Change.org profile describes him as \u201cjust a guy living in California that has progressive values and wants to save the environment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lindell also told The Post that he\u2019s preparing to bring his own lawsuit against Dominion next week accusing the voting-machine firm of quelling free speech with a slew of defamation complaints. But he said he did not know where the case would be filed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey suppressed free speech by suing \u2014 I don\u2019t know how many now, it could be hundreds of lawsuits and threats to individuals and stations like Fox News<\/a>,\u201d Lindell said.<\/p>\n

Dominion did not immediately respond to requests for comment.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
