Then, when Jasper eventually recognized she would always come back, she increased the minutes of absence. Over the winter, she worked in the garage for several hours using a space heater to keep warm.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" alt=\"Jane Yates with her dog, Jasper.\" class=\"wp-image-17771864 lazyload\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/jane-yates-jasper-4.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=300 300w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/jane-yates-jasper-4.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=640 640w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/jane-yates-jasper-4.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/jane-yates-jasper-4.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/jane-yates-jasper-4.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=2000 2000w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Jane Yates is determined that her pup, Jasper, will become more comfortable with the idea of separation.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">courtesy of Jane Yates<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She installed three cameras in her home, so she could monitor the dog\u2019s behaviors and log them for Lovell\u2019s review. \u201cI\u2019d report back on a shared Google sheet with a blow-by-blow account as if I were [primatologist] Jane Goodall watching chimps,\u201d said Yates.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, Jasper responded well to the training, which is a more individually tailored, hand-holding form of DeMartini-Price\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/malenademartini.com\/for-owners\/separation-anxiety-in-dogs-mission-possible-online-course\/\">$99 \u201cMission Possible\u201d online program <\/a>for separation anxiety in dogs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy husband and I decided we would do whatever we needed to make it work,\u201d concluded Yates, who was even prepared to give up her job if Jasper was unable to cope with the change. \u201cWe love this dog very much.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Equally, Cueto is so determined to help Marty, she scraped together the cash to pay $85 an hour for the advice of New York City trainer and counselor Joey Hernandez.<\/p>\n<p>The communications consultant and realtor for City Wide Apartments told The Post, \u201cMarty was an abused rescue dog, and I will go to any lengths necessary to make sure he lives a very h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>y, fulfilled and safe life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those lengths have included rewarding Marty with \u201chigh-value treats\u201d such as pieces of chicken or hot dog when he lies in his bed; serving his meals in a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Puzzle-Feeder-Training-Mental-Enrichment\/dp\/B08RY2YRFG\/?tag=nypost-20\">dog-food puzzle toy <\/a>(which challenges his brain) and outdoor \u201cdrills,\u201d when Cueto will watch him in an enclosed space from afar before returning to him or calling him to heel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMarty brings me so much joy,\u201d she said of the hound she adopted just over a year ago, two weeks into the pandemic. \u201cHe is my everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tips_for_easing_your_pet_through_separation_anxiety\"><\/span>Tips for easing your pet through separation anxiety<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>According to dog trainer and counselor Malena DeMartini-Price, one of the few silver linings of the pandemic has been the extra time people have gotten to spend with their pets. \u201cDogs depend on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> interaction and, if they could talk and you asked them about COVID-19, they\u2019d probably say it\u2019s been the best year of their life,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>But all good things come to an end.
