A swimmer dove into action to rescue a child that was drowning in the water outside her Fayson Lakes, NJ, home on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Watson was alerted to the potential disaster when her dogs would not stop barking outside her home in the lakeside community, ABC 7 reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Two men and a young child were in a boat that was reportedly sinking into the frigid water.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw like a boat, like in the middle \u2014 and it was like 3\/4 of the way underwater,\u201d Watson told the station.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe dad was screaming, and he was like \u2018help me, help me, I have my 3-year-old son.’\u201d<\/p>\n

A competitive swimmer since age 5, Watson quickly swam into action.<\/p>\n

\u201cI swam out to them and I grabbed the 3-year-old boy and swam back to shore,\u201d Watson said, according to the report.<\/p>\n

Watson\u2019s neighbors on the lake told the station that the heroic swimmer\u2019s compassionate stroke isn\u2019t just confined to the water.<\/p>\n

\u201cJen is a very selfless person, she\u2019s been helping her mom since she was a teenager,\u201d neighbor Colleen Lazarus said, according to the report.<\/p>\n

Mother Lynne Watson suffers from multiple sclerosis and has been unable to walk for 10 years, the report said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince she was about 14, she\u2019s been the primary caregiver for her mom,\u201d Lazurus told ABC. \u201cJen had an opportunity to go away to school, but she chose to stay home and help her mom.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJennifer is the most wonderful, generous, compassionate, kind,\u201d Lynne Watson told the station.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s just so awesome,\u201d her mother said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
