Reg\u00e9-Jean Page is making news<\/a> again after the Bridgerton<\/em> breakout star reportedly was rejected for a promising role on Krypton<\/a><\/em> due to his skin color.<\/p>\n

The news stems from a report regarding Justice League<\/em> actor Ray Fisher\u2019s claims of ill-treatment by Joss Whedon and Warner Bros. As part of The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> story, it was revealed that co-chairman of DC Films, Geoff Johns, reportedly had a hand in a the casting snub against Page.<\/p>\n

The Bridgerton<\/em> actor auditioned for the role of Seg-El, Superman\u2019s grandfather, in the Syfy series<\/a> Krypton<\/em>. At the time, the series creators were said to be looking into some \u201cnontraditional casting,\u201d but Johns, who was overseeing the project, reportedly shut down the idea of Page playing the role by saying that the superhero couldn\u2019t have a Black grandfather.<\/p>\n

While Page didn\u2019t directly reference Krypton<\/em> or Johns, since the information came to light in THR<\/em>\u2018s report he tweeted<\/a>, \u201cHearing about these conversations hurts no less now than it did back then. The clarifications almost hurt more tbh. Still just doing my thing. Still we do the work. We still fly.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

After the post, the actor cast as Superman\u2019s grandfather in Krypton<\/em>, Cameron Cuffe, responded with a tweet of his own:<\/a> \u201cReg\u00e9 is an inspiration to me and thousands of other artists. No one should feel okay benefiting from individuals or institutions that treat their fellow humans so unjustly. Change must happ<\/a>en.<\/span>\u201d<\/p>\n
