against Facebook Inc. in a filing late Wednesday, calling it a \u201cpersonal social networking\u201d monopoly that is \u201cviolating the antitrust laws by maintaining its monopoly through means other than competition on the merits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> In urging the judge handling the agency\u2019s antitrust lawsuit against the social networking giant to proceed despite Facebook\u2019s<br \/>\n        FB,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/205064656\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-0.51%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       request last month to dismiss it, the FTC argued Facebook is trying to get the fight thrown out \u201cbefore it even begins.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       \u201cCongress has explicitly provided that the FTC need not challenge an acquisition at its first opportunity to do so,\u201d the FTC said in a filing in Washington federal court. \u201cInstead, the FTC can challenge an acquisition at any time, under any provision of law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Facebook\u2019s \u201crepeated observation\u201d that the agency could have challenged the acquisitions of Instagram and Whats<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a> several years ago is irrelevant, the filing said.<\/p>\n<p>The legal broadside was in a response to a Facebook <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/2021\/03\/motions-to-dismiss-ftc-state-ag-lawsuits\/\" class=\"icon none\">motion <\/a>in March that dismissed antitrust lawsuits by the FTC and state attorneys <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> last year as \u201cmisguided.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese complaints do not credibly claim that our conduct harmed either\u201d competition or consumers, Facebook then argued.<\/p>\n<p>The FTC\u2019s lawsuit is seeking to force Facebook to peel off acquisitions Instagram and WhatsApp. Facebook also faces a lawsuit from dozens of attorneys general who claim it  violated antitrust law by scooping up competitors.<\/p>\n<p>New York Attorney General Letitia James, who is leading that lawsuit, has contended Facebook\u2019s conduct has harmed hundreds of millions of the states\u2019
