The series, the last episode of which dropped April 6, covers everything from her struggles with her mental health, alcohol and drug use, to her sexual assault, eating disorder, and a career that started when she was just a kid. To call it brave is a vast understatement.<\/p>\n<p>Below, 8 key moments that detail the stars traumatic past, and her road to recovery.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Beauty_Pageant_Fallout_Episode_1_%E2%80%98Losing_Control\"><\/span>Beauty Pageant Fallout (Episode 1: \u2018Losing Control\u2019)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>From an early age, Lovato was put in beauty pageants, and she says they were the root cause of an eating disorder. It was at a photo shoot three months prior, she reveals, that she thought, \u201cI don\u2019t even know why I\u2019m sober anymore.\u201d That night, she ended up at a party and ran into her old drug dealer, and went on what she calls \u201ca shopping spree.\u201d She tried meth for the first time and mixed it with molly, coke, weed, and alcohol. She began using crack cocaine recreationally. Fast forward to the night she met up with friends, went to a few bars, and ended up back at her house where she invited over one of her dealers over, ultimately leading to the overdose.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E2%80%98Lucky_to_Be_Alive_Episode_2_%E2%80%985_Minutes_From_Death\"><\/span>\u2018Lucky to Be Alive\u2019 (Episode 2: \u20185 Minutes From Death\u2019)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>We learn that Jordan Jackson, Lovato\u2019s assistant, arrived at the star\u2019s house the morning of the overdose to bring her to a doctor\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointment. After knocking several times with no answer, she went into Lovato\u2019s room and found her passed out and seemingly drunk. After nudging her, she realized she needed to call 911. Due to the brain damage (a result of the strokes), Lovato woke up legally blind, which lasted for two months. She still cannot drive and has blind spots in her vision. When she tries to pour a glass of water, she says, she \u201ctotally misses the cup.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Friends_Receive_Death_Threats_Episode_3_%E2%80%98Reclaiming_Power\"><\/span>Friends Receive Death Threats (Episode 3: \u2018Reclaiming Power\u2019)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>After <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> broke about the overdose, recalls Lovato\u2019s best friend and hip-hop artist Sirah (below), she began receiving death threats from Lovato fans due to images circulating of her being with the pop star during tough periods of her life. Another good friend, backup dancer Dani Vitale, received thousands of messages per day on social media from Lovato fans telling her to \u201cdie\u201d and \u201ckill herself\u201d due to reports they\u2019d been partying together the night before the overdose.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Sexual_Assault_Episode_3_%E2%80%98Reclaiming_Power\"><\/span>Sexual Assault (Episode 3: \u2018Reclaiming Power\u2019)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Lovato also shares another trauma: She was sexually assaulted and \u201clost her virginity to rape\u201d as a teenager. (She was also sexually assaulted the night of the overdose by her drug dealer.) At the time, she was working at Disney and she had hooked up with an unnamed cast member. She reveals that she told him she was a virgin and didn\u2019t want to take it further, and he proceeded to rape her.<\/p>\n<p>She told someone about the rape, but the attacker was never punished; he wasn\u2019t even removed from movie they were in. Her friends say that 2020 was the best year of Lovato\u2019s life. Sirah notes that Lovato \u201cgrew so much,\u201d now meditates, and does little things for herself that make a big impact, such as stretching before bed.<\/p>\n<p>Lovato says that she\u2019s now \u201csmoking weed and drinking in moderation,\u201d and some friends and family express reservations about it. Elton explains that \u201cmoderation doesn\u2019t work. If you drink you\u2019re going to drink more, if you take a pill you\u2019re going to take another one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lovato emphasizes that her definition of sobriety might not be the same as it is for others.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Eating_Disorder_Under_Control_Episode_4_%E2%80%98Rebirthing\"><\/span>Eating Disorder Under Control (Episode 4: \u2018Rebirthing\u2019)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Lovato explains that she was \u201cunable to find recovery in her eating disorder until she found balance\u201d in her food and exercise.
