“#Where’s the Menu? How to Use the Play Store’s New Interface on Android”<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s not uncommon for Google to update the user interface of its Android app<\/a>s\u2014including the Play Store.\u00a0A change made in early 2021 puts many of the menu items you might want to access in a much less obvious spot. We\u2019ll show you where to look.<\/p>\n

In April 2021, Google began rolling out a slight redesign<\/a> to the Play Store\u00a0on Android. Similar to other Google apps, the main menu was moved from the three-line \u201chamburger\u201d button previously found in the top-left corner to the user\u2019s profile icon located in the search bar.<\/p>\n

While this is a small visual change\u2014simply removing one icon\u2014it makes a pretty big difference in how navigating the app works. You now have to train yourself to go somewhere else to check for app updates, see your library, and access the settings menu.<\/p>\n

When the new UI rolls out to your device, you\u2019ll notice the old hamburger menu icon (three horizontal lines) is faded. Tapping it will reveal the message seen below, instructing you to tap your profile icon. The old slide-out menu will be gone after this.<\/p>\n

From now on, to access the menu in the Play Store app on Android, you\u2019ll need to tap your profile icon on the right side of the search bar.<\/p>\n

This will expand a menu with all the options you\u2019re used to seeing. This includes \u201cMy Apps & Game<\/a>s,\u201d \u201cLibrary,\u201d \u201cPayments & Subscriptions,\u201d Settings,\u201d your Play Points info, and more.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s it! This is a seemingly small change, but one that will certainly take some getting used to. If you access this menu a lot, you\u2019ve probably developed some muscle memory for the old location. The un-training begins now.<\/p>\n
