“#Indiana Jones 5 Cast Adds Phoebe Waller-Bridge \u2013 \/Film<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Indiana Jones 5<\/em><\/strong> has added a new face and brought back a familiar name.\u00a0Fleabag<\/em> creator\/star Phoebe Waller-Bridge<\/strong> has joined the cast as the female lead, while the legendary John Williams<\/strong> is coming back to score the film. Harrison Ford<\/strong> is back as Indy, of course, with James Mangold<\/strong> directing. Plot details remain locked away, but production is expected to begin sometime this summer.<\/p>\n

Disney and Lucasfilm have announced that\u00a0Phoebe Waller-Bridge is joining the\u00a0Indiana Jones 5<\/em>\u00a0cast as the female lead. This isn\u2019t Waller-Bridge\u2019s first time working with Disney\/Lucasfilm \u2013 she also had a role in\u00a0Solo: A Star Wars Story<\/em>. Plot details about\u00a0Indiana Jones 5<\/em> aren\u2019t available just yet, and we don\u2019t know anything about Waller-Bridge\u2019s character. Still, the news<\/a> of her joining the cast is pretty damn exciting. One also has to wonder if Waller-Bridge, who co-wrote the upcoming James Bond movie\u00a0No Time to Die<\/em>, might be asked to contribute to the script<\/a> as well.\u00a0Jonathan Kasdan<\/strong> and David Koepp<\/strong> were both previously announced as working on the script, but Koepp is no longer involved, and the official press release curiously makes no mention of who is writing the film.
\nIn addition to this casting news, we also now know that John Williams will be back to compose the film\u2019s score, and thank heavens for that \u2013 imagine an\u00a0Indiana Jones\u00a0<\/em>movie without John Williams\u2019s music. Of course, while Williams will be back, Steven Spielberg will not \u2013 and that\u2019s a detail that I remain slightly apprehensive about.\u00a0Indiana Jones<\/em> is so tied up with Spielberg\u2019s identity that I have trouble accepting a new film without him. For a while there, Spielberg was intending to return to helm. But after several delays, the filmmaker handed directorial duties over to\u00a0Logan<\/em> director James Mangold. Spielberg will still serve as a producer on the project. Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy<\/strong>, Frank Marshall<\/strong>, and Simon Emanue<\/strong>l will executive produce.<\/p>\n

Mangold is a good filmmaker \u2013 but let\u2019s be real, he\u2019s no Spielberg. Nonetheless, I\u2019m curious to see what he does here. \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be starting a new adventure, collaborating with a dream team of all-time great filmmakers,\u201d said Mangold. \u201cSteven, Harrison, Kathy, Frank, and John are all artistic heroes of mine. When you add Phoebe, a dazzling actor, brilliant creative voice, and the chemistry she will undoubtedly bring to our set, I can\u2019t help but feel as lucky as Indiana Jones himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deadline adds that the hope is to start filming\u00a0Indiana Jones 5<\/em> this summer. By all accounts, this will be Harrison Ford\u2019s last outing as the adventure-seeking archeologist.\u00a0Indiana Jones 5<\/em> is set to open\u00a0July 29, 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
