\n The Wikipedia page for Sen. Kamala Harris has been placed under \u201cdiscretionary sanctions\u201d after administrators discovered that the article had been edited over 500 times since early May \u2014 mostly by one user.<\/p>\n

According to Harris\u2019 (D-Calif.) \u201ctalk\u201d page, where editors could discuss improvements to Wikipedia articles, the page \u201cmust adhere to the biographies of living persons (BLP) policy, even if it is not a biography, because it contains material about living persons.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cContentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immedia<\/a>tely from the article and its talk page, especially if potentially libelous.\u201d<\/p>\n

The edits were first noticed by The Intercept, which reported last week on the revision history of the California Democrat\u2019s page and the dispute between editors on the content.<\/p>\n

After the updates from the sole user, who goes by Bnguyen1114, another editor wrote on the talk page, \u201cYou seem to have gone through a database of press releases from Harris\u2019s office, cataloging every single one and adding it to the article. That is not how we write encyclopedic articles.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bnguyen1114 also removed information in Harris\u2019 article that app<\/a>eared to be critical of her record, specifically content relating to her relationship with former California Assembly Speaker Willie Brown.<\/p>\n

Editors on the \u201ctalk\u201d page also objected to changes made to sections that covered her time as a prosecutor.<\/p>\n

In a June 11 comment, the Bnguyen1114 argued that he was \u201cproofreading for length.\u201d<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Harris did not immediately respond to The Post\u2019s request for comment on the matter.<\/p>\n

The edits to Harris\u2019 article come as her name continues to be mentioned as a frontrunner in the race to be presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden\u2019s running mate.<\/p>\n

Harris has been reported among the top contenders for the coveted vice presidential slot, alongside Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), former National Security Adviser Susan Rice, New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Rep. Val Demings (D-Fla.).<\/p>\n

Harris, Warren and Rice all passed the initial round of scrutiny by Biden\u2019s VP search committee within recent weeks and were recently asked to turn over documents like financial disclosures and past writings.<\/p>\n

In 2016, Sen. Tim Kaine\u2019s (D-Va.) Wikipedia page was heavily edited in the weeks leading up to his being tapped as Hillary Clinton\u2019s vice presidential running mate, according to The Atlantic.<\/p>\n

Similarly, the Washington Post reports that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin\u2019s Wikipedia article was heavily edited in the hours prior to being named as Sen. John McCain\u2019s (R-Ariz.) running mate.<\/p>\n
