It seems Adam Schefter didn\u2019t have the quickest fingers Monday on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Before ESPN\u2019s NFL Insider revealed the Chiefs were signing star quarterback Patrick Mahomes to the richest contract in sports history, Katie Camlin of Kansas City\u2019s Plaza Liquor hinted at the blockbuster deal first.<\/p>\n

\u201cA front office employee for the Chiefs came in and bought 6 bottles of Dom Perignon. Said there\u2019s a big signing today. He said it\u2019s not [tackle] Chris Jones, so my guess is a Mahomes deal,\u201d Camlin, a store manager, wrote in a tweet at 12:21 p.m.<\/p>\n

Camlin told USA Today that she deleted the tweet, \u201cterrified\u201d she would upset the franchise and hurt her store\u2019s business.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t want to lose their business,\u201d she told the paper. \u201cI was afraid they\u2019d be mad. So I deleted it. But of course, screenshots are forever.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two hours later, Schefter announced the Chiefs had locked in Mahomes through 2031, with this year\u2019s Super Bowl MVP agreeing to a 10-year, $503 million extension.<\/p>\n

Camlin then celebrated her scoop, tweeting, \u201cHoly s\u2013t I beat Schefter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Camlin said she later connected with the Chiefs exec who visited the store, ensuring all was fine after she had shared the impending news<\/a> early on.<\/p>\n

\u201cI spoke w\/ the news & I also spoke with the gentleman who was in the store this morning. We are on the same page & we are okay! I wanted to make sure everyone\u2019s job was safe & that there was no issue with the organization. I got excited & made a guess that turned out to be right,\u201d she posted.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
