A Kansas lawmaker taunted a state trooper during a drunken driving arrest last month \u2014 calling the cop \u201cdonut boy\u201d and saying he could \u201ctake\u201d him in a fight. <\/p>\n

State Sen. Gene Suellentrop, the Republican majority leader in Kansas, was pulled over in his SUV on March 16 after cops were called about someone driving the wrong way on I-470 in Topeka, local network WIBW reports<\/a>. <\/p>\n

When cops caught up with the lawmaker, he was confused and looked at officers with a \u201cblank stare,\u201d having to be told twice to get out of the SUV, according to his criminal affidavit<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Suellentrop, 69, refused to take a breathalyzer test after police said they smelled an \u201codor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Officers brought the lawmaker to a nearby hospital for a blood test, where Suellentrop \u201cstruggled with keeping his balance.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to hold him by the arm,\u201d\u00a0the officer wrote in the court paperwork.<\/p>\n

At one point, the lawmaker complained about the arrest \u201call for going the wrong way\u201d \u2013 and mocked the officer, calling him \u201cdonut boy.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the bloodwork, the lawmaker became \u201cslightly aggressive in his tone,\u201d the court docs say.<\/p>\n

\u201c[H]e made reference to physically going up against me,\u201d the officer wrote. \u201cHe looked me up and down, stating he played state sports competitively in high school. He stated he could \u2018take me.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n

Suellentrop is facing five criminal counts<\/a> over the arrest, including attempting to flee law enforcement, DUI and reckless driving, police said. <\/p>\n
