Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg says he\u2019s giving up his role in the pillow company he launched to compete with\u00a0conservative MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell \u2014 and going back to activism.<\/p>\n

Hogg, 20,\u00a0announced on Twitter\u00a0Saturday<\/a> \u201cresigned and released all shares, any ownership and any control of Good Pillow LLC\u201d effective immedia<\/a>tely.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe reasons for my departure rests entirely with me and my own personal commitments and I truly wish (co-founder William LeGate) nothing but the best,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the next several months, I will be taking some time to focus on my studies in college and advance the gun violence prevention movement with March For Our Lives and personally.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hogg \u2014 who was a Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student during the slaughter in 2018 \u2014\u00a0said in early February that he was working with LeGate, a tech entrepreneur, on a rival pillow firm.<\/p>\n

He claimed the \u201cprogressive competition\u201d could put Lindell, who hawks patented foam pillows on infomercials,\u00a0out of business.<\/p>\n

The so-called pillow fight had been greeted with ambivalence by Lindell himself, who had\u00a0responded to Axios<\/a>\u00a0that there\u2019s \u201cnothing wrong with competition that does not infringe on someone\u2019s patent.\u201d<\/p>\n

About a week later, Hogg announced he would be taking a leave of absence from his position as a board member for March For Our Lives.<\/p>\n

In his tweets Saturday, the Harvard University student said he realized he couldn\u2019t devote \u201c100%\u201d to his pillow company because of other commitments, including school, family and his activism.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe reasons for my departure rest entirely with me and my own personal commitments and I truly wish Will nothing but the best,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

He said he would leave it up to LeGate to fulfill their vision of building \u201can ethical company that produces products that people need while creating good union paying jobs and supporting social causes at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n
