“#New Yorkers flock to plastic surgeons as pandemic ends<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

New Yorkers are facing the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, and it isn\u2019t pretty \u2014 prompting them to flock to plastic surgeons to get ready for a summer of fewer masks, more social<\/a>izing and a return to the office.<\/p>\n

\u201cDouble the demand is a reasonable statement,\u201d Upper East Side plastic surgeon Dr. Melissa Doft said of her increased bookings in $25,000 facelifts, $12,000 breast augmentations and $15,000 nose jobs.<\/p>\n

Dr. Evan Rieder, a dermatologist and psychiatrist added, \u201cThey\u2019re coming back [from the Hamptons, Florida and the Berkshires] for procedures they wanted to do but were too scared to come in for\u201d at the height of COVID-19.<\/p>\n

The Manhattan doctor said \u201cinjectables, Botox, soft-tissue fillers\u201d are the most popular procedures at the moment \u2014 with patients especially focused on their soon-to-be-revealed lower faces.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople have lost their jobs, homes and confidence\u201d over the past year, Rieder said. \u201cInternal stress can manifest, especially on the skin.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is much better to return to the world of travel<\/a> and socializing looking good, including with \u201cnew boobies,\u201d East Harmle resident Alexis Williams said.<\/p>\n

She told The Post she had $15,000 breast-augmentation surgery as a 30th birthday present to herself last month.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a whole new woman,\u201d the marketing exec said after the procedure at Rowe Plastic Surgery on the Upper East Side in Manhattan.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very excited after being inside for so long \u2014 it makes you app<\/a>reciate everything: being able to go to the gym \u2026 being around people. I am a socialite, it\u2019s a rebirth with a new look,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m ready to show these things off. I don\u2019t care.\u201d<\/p>\n

A \u201cvampire facial\u201d \u2014 in which patients\u2019 blood plasma is reinjected using micro-needles to tighten the skin \u2014 was the perfect pre-summer pick-me-up for one West Village woman in her early 30s.<\/p>\n

The Manhattan woman told The Post that her $1,400 government stimulus check paid for most of the $2,000 procedure.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople are going to see my face for the first time in like 18 months. Faces are the new cleavage after so much mystery,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only reason I could do this was the stimulus, honestly,\u201d said the woman, who didn\u2019t want her name used.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know there are better uses of my money, but I just couldn\u2019t go into summer looking like, well, looking like I\u2019d lived through a plague.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sharon G., 52, of Huntington, LI, came into the city last month for a mini-facelift, liposuction and breast implants \u2014 at a total price tag of $29,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been hiding my face with a mask,\u201d she said. \u201cFor me, this is self-esteem, truly done for myself and how I feel. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt makes such a difference in how I feel in the world.\u201d <\/p>\n

Another patient \u2014 a 36-year-old Murray Hill resident \u2014 had a tummy-tuck two weeks ago, after a second baby.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI need to get my confidence back,\u201d the Manhattan woman explained.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter spending a year inside, I needed to feel better about myself. Being depressed, gaining weight \u2014 not seeing my family in California is a downer. I want to look good, to feel good about myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

With summer looming just as masks may be lowering \u2014 at least for some gatherings among the safely vaccinated \u2014 it\u2019s now last call for discreet operations, plastic surgeons said.<\/p>\n

Timing is everything, noted Manhattan Dr. Lara Devgan, who said most of her patients feel \u201crestaurant ready\u201d about two weeks after facial plastic surgeries \u2014 and prepared for anything after four to six weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo the next two months are an ideal window for recovery in time for socializing this summer,\u201d Devgan said.<\/p>\n

She said she is seeing many more requests for facelifts, neck lifts and \u201cfacial optimization\u2013\u201d a combination of subtle surgery and injectable facial contouring.<\/p>\n

\u201cReal life happens face-to-face, not behind a filtered selfie, and I think all of us are thinking about how we want to feel when we see other people again,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve watched our hairs turn gray, our anxiety levels rise, and our facial furrows deepen \u2014 the combination of that, plus unflattering Zoom angles and the desire to recapture what we lost, is also fueling this trend,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Dr. Haideh Hirmand, another city-based plastic surgeon enjoying an increase in business, said, \u201cWith the vaccines now, we see even more of an uptick and urgency to get procedures done.<\/p>\n

\u201cPatients are calling saying, \u2018I don\u2019t look great, and I haven\u2019t done anything in a long time \u2014 I\u2019m used to always having my mask on,\u2019 \u201d she said.<\/p>\n

One of her Baby Boomer patients, who is going through a divorce, recently burst into tears during an eyelift, Hirmand said, crying, \u201cOh my God, how do people age? This is so hard! How do people reconcile losing what they see in the mirror?\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
