\n \u201cCall of Duty\u201d is adding a new feature to its mega-popular \u201cModern Warfare\u201d game<\/a>: social<\/a> activism.<\/p>\n

The best-selling shooting game now includes a message splashed on its loading screen with \u201cBlack Lives Matter\u201d written in large, bold print.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur community is hurting,\u201d the statement, first spotted by The Verge, reads. \u201cThe systemic inequalities our community experiences are once again center stage. Call of Duty and Infinity Ward stand for equality and inclusion. We stand against the racism and injustice our Black community endures. Until change happ<\/a>ens and Black Lives Matter, we will never truly be the community we strive to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

The message \u2014 which pops up any time players boot the game up or switch between modes on the game\u2019s menu \u2014 arrived after developer Infinity Ward announced that it was busy \u201cissuing thousands of daily bans of racist and hate-oriented names,\u201d but acknowledged that it has \u201cto do more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, popular video game \u201cFortnite\u201d announced that it was delaying its end-of-season event in the wake of the George Floyd protests, saying that it was giving \u201ctime for the team to focus on themselves, their families and their communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shares of publisher Activision Blizzard were down nearly 2 percent in early morning trading.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
