No. We think that for the kind of machine we produce now, an electric motorcycle cannot guarantee the pleasure, the range, the weight etc that Ducati riders expect,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Soon is the operative word here. The Italian marque hasn\u2019t totally written off the idea of making an electric bike.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thinking and working on electric,\u201d Milicia told MCN. \u201cWe are part of a group that\u2019s going quickly towards electrification and it\u2019s a good opportunity for Ducati.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a bit complicated to go into the full details here, but in a roundabout sort of way, Ducati is owned by Audi, which is itself owned by VW. We don\u2019t need to mention how hard those companies are looking at EVs.<\/p>\n<p>Importantly for Ducati, though; Porsche, also owned by VW, is looking at synthetic fuels, and this seems to have caught the bike maker\u2019s eye.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are also looking carefully at other solutions for zero or minimal emissions, such as synthetic fuel,\u201d Milicia said. \u201cIt\u2019s something we\u2019re looking at in the medium term.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Given the narrative that\u2019s unfolding in the motorcar world, it\u2019s surprising to see Ducati push back against the electric revolution.<\/p>\n<p>Iconic brands are being forced to walk a tightrope right now, balancing their heritage and the characteristics that diehard customers know and love, whilst reinventing themselves with modern powertrains for a low emission future.<\/p>\n<p>For a brand steeped in so much history and flamboyance, it\u2019s understandable that Ducati is treading lightly as it makes its way to a low emission future.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s worth noting<span> that the UK\u2019s Triumph has just started talking up its new electric platform that\u2019s in the making and is set to power a bunch of its vehicles.<br \/><\/span><br \/><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Project Triumph TE-1 | Creating UK Electric Motorcycle Capability\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-CQfl0kWTt8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>HT \u2013 <\/em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2021\/04\/12\/ducati-backtracks-on-electric-motorcycles-touts-synthetic-fuel-instead\/\"><em>Electrek<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p><i><span>Do EVs excite your electrons?
