Joseph Siravo, best known for his roles in the \u201cThe Sopranos\u201d and \u201cJersey Boys,\u201d passed away Sunday after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 64. <\/p>\n

\u201cI was by his side when my dear father passed away this morning, peacefully, in his beloved Treehouse,\u201d wrote Siravo\u2019s daughter Allegra Okarmus on Instagram<\/a>. \u201cWe are both so lucky to be so intensely loved. I am so immensely grateful to have had him here on earth and I know that he hasn\u2019t gone very far.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Washington D.C. native had been battling both stage 4 prostate cancer and colon cancer, the latter of which required him to have part of his colon removed, NJ.com reported. <\/a><\/p>\n

Known for playing wisecracking East Coast tough guys, Siravo is perhaps most famous for his turn in HBO mob drama the \u201cThe Sopranos,\u201d in which he portrayed Tony Soprano\u2019s father during flashbacks to the gangster boss\u2019s childhood in the sixties. The dramatist\u2019s other TV roles include everything from \u201cFor Life\u201d to \u201cLaw and Order\u201d<\/a> to \u201cThe People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story.\u201d <\/p>\n

The actor and producer also made a splash on the big screen, with supporting parts in \u201cCarlito\u2019s Way,\u201d Adam Driver\u2019s \u201cThe Report\u201d \u201cEquity, \u201cMotherless Brooklyn,\u201d \u201cThe Wannabe,\u201d \u201cShark Tale\u201d and \u201cNight Falls on Manhattan.\u201d<\/p>\n

A veteran of the stage as well, Siravo notched more than 2,000 performances as gangster Gyp DeCarlo in the flagship U.S. tour of hit musical\u00a0\u201cJersey Boys,\u201d which began in 2006. <\/p>\n

Siravo\u2019s fellow \u201cSopranos\u201d stars flocked to social media<\/a> to mourn his passing. <\/p>\n

\u201cOh no! He was so great!\u201d tweeted Stevie Van Zandt<\/a>, who played Silvio Dante on the iconic series<\/a>. \u201cDeepest love and condolences to his family. Big loss.\u201d<\/p>\n

Actor Michael Imperioli, who played Christopher in the series, seconded his co-star\u2019s sentiment in a heartfelt Instagram<\/a> post. \u201cJoe was an excellent actor and a wonderful guy and he will be missed dearly,\u201d he wrote. \u201cHis performance [as] Johnny Boy Soprano was spot on and he also made a perfect John Gotti in Nick Sandow\u2019s\u00a0\u2018The Wannabe.\u2019\u00a0In my opinion, he was the best of all the actors who\u2019ve played the Teflon Don.<\/p>\n
