“#GOP Sen. Cornyn questions if Biden is \u2018really in charge\u2019<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Sen.\u00a0John Cornyn, R-Texas, questioned Monday if President\u00a0Biden\u00a0is \u201creally in charge\u201d as the president keeps a much lower profile\u00a0than his predecessors.<\/p>\n

The Texas senator questioned the president\u2019s leadership in a Twitter<\/a> thread aimed at Biden\u2019s sparse media presence where he shared a link to a\u00a0Politico<\/a>\u00a0article on the Biden administration\u2019s communications strategy.<\/p>\n

Cornyn quoted a portion of the article that\u00a0pointed out Biden \u201cis not doing cable news<\/a> interviews\u201d and that his \u201climited\u201d social media posts online are \u201cunimaginably conventional\u201d when they do come.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe public comments are largely script<\/a>ed,\u201d the excerpt continued. \u201cBiden has opted for fewer sit down interviews with mainstream outlets and reporters.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cornyn then said the administration\u2019s communications strategy of keeping Biden out of the limelight raises the question if the president was really at the helm of his administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cInvites the question: is he really in charge?\u201d wrote Cornyn.<\/p>\n

In the Politico\u00a0article, White House deputy communications director Kate Berner said the administration\u2019s communications strategy \u201cis based on innovation in the digital space, flooding the zone in regional and coalitions press and effectively using traditional national media.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s the president, he\u2019s got a lot on his plate. We have people fanning out every single day across different media to amplify his message,\u201d Berner continued. \u201cWe don\u2019t let his schedule be a limiting factor for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Berner said the administration also utilizes the Cabinet to engage with \u201caudiences that they can uniquely speak to.\u201d<\/p>\n

The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News\u2019 request for comment on Cornyn\u2019s tweets.<\/p>\n

Biden\u2019s silence in the media has become a key theme in the president\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n

Last month, Biden\u00a0held\u00a0<\/a>the first press conference of his administration after waiting 64 days into his term to do so.<\/p>\n

The president\u2019s immediate predecessor, President\u00a0Trump,\u00a0waited<\/a>\u00a027 days to hold his first press conference. biden\u2019s former boss, President Obama, waited only 20 days before holding his first presser.\n <\/div>\n
