More insight has emerged concerning the micromanagement and dysfunction in the Philadelphia Eagles\u2019 front office, resulting in the firing of Super Bowl-winning head coach Doug Pederson in January.<\/p>\n

Multiple current and former team staffers told The Athletic <\/a>that owner Jeffrey Lurie and general<\/a> manager Howie Roseman constantly questioned Pederson\u2019s decisions in weekly meetings \u201cabout all aspects of his game<\/a> management\u201d and pressured him to make coaching\/personnel changes during his final years with the team.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to the report, the sources described \u201can environment characterized by second-guessing, paranoia and a lack of transparency\u201d within the organization.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Pederson] was ridiculed and criticized for every decision,\u201d one source told the website. \u201cIf you won by three, it wasn\u2019t enough. If you lost on a last-second field goal, you\u2019re the worst coach in history.\u201d<\/p>\n

After leading the Eagles to the first Super Bowl title in franchise history in 2017, Pederson\u2019s team compiled a record of 22-25-1 over the past three seasons, including a 4-11-1 finish in 2020.<\/p>\n

According to the report, Pederson was regularly second-guessed by the front office, which \u201ctreated him like a baby,\u201d the report stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fact that Doug had the success he did with all the s\u2013t going on in the building, sometimes I look at our Super Bowl rings, and I\u2019m like, \u2018Holy cow, I don\u2019t know how we did it,\u2019 \u201d one source said in the story.<\/p>\n

Roseman also was painted as paranoid and \u201cobsessed\u201d with uncovering who was behind any leaks to the media<\/a>, \u201cscolding employees and threatening to search phones in reaction to the publication of inside information.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the 2019 season, Pederson announced that offensive coordinator Mike Groh and wide receivers coach Carson Walch would be returning the following year, but the front office fired them two days later.<\/p>\n

The 53-year-old Pederson was replaced by former Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni as head coach in January. Former franchise quarterback Carson Wentz also was traded to Indianapolis last month in exchange for a 2021 third-round draft pick and a conditional 2022 second-round selection.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
