“#Protesters and cops clash after Daunte Wright killing<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Tensions ran high Monday night as hundreds of people gathered outside the Brooklyn Center, Minnesota police precinct \u2014 flouting a 7 p.m. curfew to protest the cop-killing of Daunte Wright.<\/p>\n

Protesters were met by dozens of law enforcement officers who fired rubber bullets and tear gas after telling the crowd to disperse, according to local reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For a second consecutive night, looting occurred amid the protests, including at a Dollar Tree near the police precinct, according to a photo posted to Twitter<\/a> by Star Tribune reporter Andy Mannix. <\/p>\n

Smoke was seen billowing from the Dollar Tree later Monday night.<\/p>\n

The demonstrators broke into chants of \u201cDaunte Wright!\u201d and <\/a>\u201cYou can\u2019t stop the revolution!\u201d Some shouted obscenities at officers.<\/p>\n

Police had put up a chain link fence and concrete barriers around the precinct earlier in the day. Local cops, as well as Minnesota National Guard and Minnesota State Patrol officers surrounded the building, the Star Tribune reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz\u00a0instituted another dusk-to-dawn curfew, but many of the protesters, who gathered at the precinct earlier in the day for a vigil for Wright, remained well past the deadline.<\/p>\n

Wright, 20, was fatally shot by Brooklyn Center cop, identified by the Tribune as 25-year veteran Kimberly Potter, during a traffic stop on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Police Chief Tim Gannon said the officer had intended to deploy a Taser as the man struggled with police \u2014 but fired a handgun instead.<\/p>\n

The clashes on Monday came after heated demonstrations and scattered reports of looting in the Minneapolis suburb\u00a0on Sunday night. <\/p>\n
