The title of the second anime<\/a> feature film inspired by Japanese stationery company San-X’s popular mascot character brand Sumikko Gurashi has been decided as Eiga Sumikko Gurashi: Aoi Tsukiyo no Mahou no Ko<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a> (Sumikko Gurashi The Movie: A Magical Child of the Blue Moonlit Night<\/em>). And the film is officially set to be released in Japan in November 2021.<\/p>\n

Sumikko Gurashi was created in 2012 and has become one of the most successful brands in the company. The 65-minute first film Eiga Sumikko Gurashi: Tobidasu Ehon to Himitsu no Ko<\/em><\/strong> (Sumikko Gurashi The Movie: A Popping Picture Book and A Secret Child<\/em>) was released in Japan on November 8, 2019, and became the top-grossing Japanese film of the weekend. Its total domestic box office gross was an impressive 1.45 billion yen (13 million USD), so expectations for the sequel have been very high.<\/p>\n

The story of the second film begins on a blue moon night when a mysterious magic is cast on the town where Sumikko and her friends live. Takahiro Omori <\/strong>(Natsume Yujin-cho<\/em><\/span><\/a>) is attached to direct on a screenplay by Reiko Yoshida<\/strong> (K-ON!<\/em><\/span><\/a>, Girls und Pazner<\/em><\/span><\/a>). Following the first film, Fanworks<\/strong> works on anime production.<\/p>\n
