Ever accidentally walked into someone while texting?<\/p>\n

Google is bringing out a feature to help Android users who have this problem and it\u2019s aptly named \u201cHeads Up.\u201d<\/p>\n

The feature is being tested on the beta version of the Google Digital Wellbeing app<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You can also use this app to keep track of your smartphone use and make sure you\u2019re not using it too much.<\/p>\n

The Heads Up feature will work by sending you a notification if it can sense you walking with your smartphone unlocked.<\/p>\n

It will warn users to be aware of their surroundings.<\/p>\n

The warning may come in the form of a pinging noise if your phone isn\u2019t on silent.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also expected to pick up whether you\u2019re walking, jogging or running.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Google\u00a0support page\u00a0explains<\/a>: \u201cThe app uses sensors in your phone that detect movement to understand whether or not you\u2019re walking, while the location is used to understand whether you\u2019re walking indoors or outdoors.\u201d<\/p>\n

You don\u2019t have to share location data to use the feature.<\/p>\n

If you do grant location permissions, the feature can take into account whether you\u2019re indoors or out.<\/p>\n

Google added: \u201cWhile we have tested this feature to be as accurate as possible, do not rely solely on this feature to keep safe.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease always use your best judgement, and use this feature as a gentle reminder when you do find yourself distracted while walking.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not yet clear when Heads Up could roll out to all Android users.<\/p>\n

To use Heads Up right now, you can\u00a0join the beta program<\/a>\u00a0in the\u00a0Digital Wellbeing app<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In other news<\/a>, TikTok has finally created an\u00a0automatic captions feature<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hundreds of OnlyFans accounts have been\u00a0targeted by hackers<\/a>\u00a0who leaked explicit content online, according to cybersecurity experts.<\/p>\n

And Tesco has been\u00a0giving out free iPhones<\/a>, AirPods and new Samsung phones.<\/p>\n
