Daunte Wright had an open warrant related to an armed-robbery case against him when he was shot dead Sunday by a cop who claimed she thought she was firing her Taser, court records show<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Wright, 20, and another man had been charged with first-degree attempted aggravated robbery in December 2019 for allegedly trying to steal $820 from a woman at gunpoint, according to Hennepin County District Court documents.<\/p>\n

The pair had crashed at the victim\u2019s home in the city of Osseo after attending a party there \u2013then demanded money the next morning while flashing a gun, authorities said in court papers.<\/p>\n

\u201cGive me the f\u2013king money \u2014 I\u2019m not playing around,\u201d Wright told the woman, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n

The victim refused and began screaming for both men to leave, records show.<\/p>\n

\u201cGive me the money, and we will leave,\u201d Wright allegedly told her. \u201cGive me the money, and we will go.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two men eventually left the home without any dough, according to documents. <\/p>\n

Wright was later arrested in the case and released on $100,000 bail. But he violated his bail conditions in July when he failed to stay in touch with his court monitor, the papers said.<\/p>\n

According to the Daily Mail<\/a>, he also was in possession of a gun at some point after his arrest for the robbery, which was also in violation of the condition of his bail release. <\/p>\n

The case was still pending when police in Brooklyn Center pulled Wright over Sunday for having an expired registration on his car.<\/p>\n

Police said the officers then determined Wright had an outstanding warrant related to his bail violations and sought to arrest him \u2014 but he broke away and got back in the car.<\/p>\n

Veteran cop Kimberly Potter fired a single fatal shot at Wright \u2014 claiming she thought she was holding her Taser instead of her service weapon. She resigned from the force Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Police Chief Tim Gannon, who also resigned Tuesday, said a day earlier that officers did not find a weapon in Wright\u2019s vehicle. <\/p>\n

According to reports, Potter could be charged in his death as soon as Wednesday.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
