“#Steak-umm’s Twitter<\/a> beef with Neil DeGrasse Tyson heats up<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Who will win in the battle between science<\/a> and steak?<\/p>\n

Steak-umm, the brand that specializes in frozen beef and hot takes, is coming for Neil deGrasse Tyson \u2014 again, this time calling out the celebrity-scientist for inciting \u201cskepticism\u201d among science-deniers. <\/p>\n

In 2018, their brief beef started and ended when the Twitter account for Steak-Umm goaded<\/a>, \u201cwho cares,\u201d following a random factoid tweeted by deGrasse Tyson<\/a>. The fun fact revealed that the \u201cthirteen letters of \u2018eleven plus two,\u2019 when rearranged, also spells \u2018twelve plus one,\u2019 \u201d all of which amounts to the number 13. <\/p>\n

Despite more than 76,000 likes on the anagram, Steak-umm was unimpressed with the 62-year-old astrophysicist \u2014 and still is, particularly with his professorial rhetoric.<\/p>\n

On April 11, deGrasse Tyson asserted<\/a>, \u201cThe good thing about Science is that it\u2019s true, whether or not you believe in it.\u201d<\/p>\n

His tweet has since garnered 130,000 likes, one of which certainly did not come from the Steak-umm account. The purveyor of sliced steak<\/a> was critical of the Hayden Planetarium director.<\/p>\n

\u201cLog off bro,\u201d they urged in a retweet<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n

Ostensibly vexed with the popularity of deGrasse-Tyson\u2019s tweet, Steak-Umm balked on Tuesday<\/a>, \u201cThe irony of neil\u2019s tweet is that by framing science itself as \u2018true\u2019 he\u2019s influencing people to be more skeptical of it in a time of unprecedented misinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cScience is an ever refining process to find truth, not a dogma. No matter his intent, this message isn\u2019t helpful,\u201d Steak-umm added. <\/p>\n

Their retort was praised with likes from more than 19,000 on Twitter \u2014 as one follower responded in a gustatory double entendre<\/a>, \u201cI rarely say this about steak, but well done!\u201d<\/p>\n

To date, deGrasse Tyson has not responded to Steak-umm\u2019s slams. <\/p>\n
