\n Police falsely accused an innocent woman of robbery when they splashed her face across an online wanted poster that is still being circulated months after she proved her innocence, according to a new lawsuit.<\/p>\n

Vanessa Adames says the post \u2014 which features separate photos of her and three other people \u2014 went up on the 30th precinct\u2019s Facebook<\/a> page on Dec. 16 and it read: \u201cWANTED!! Do you recognize these individuals? They are wanted for a Robbery that took place in front of 508 W.140 St on 11\/24 at 5:15 PM.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe victim was attacked and his cellphone was forcibly removed.\u201d<\/p>\n

A post matching the one described in the lawsuit, that shows a woman and three men, can still be found on the precinct\u2019s Facebook page.<\/p>\n

\u201cMs. Adames did not know any of the other individuals pictured in the Facebook Post and had absolutely nothing to do with any robbery,\u201d her Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit from Monday says.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old West Harlem woman went into the precinct that day and the next after receiving multiple text messages from people she knew who saw the post, the court documents say.<\/p>\n

Adames, who was pregnant at the time, explained to a detective at the precinct the day of the post, that she didn\u2019t know the other three people in the post and that \u201cshe had simply gone to her local deli on Nov. 24, 2019, to buy some snacks,\u201d the court filings say.<\/p>\n

She took time off of work to go in again the next day on Dec. 17 to explain the mix up to two different detectives who \u201capologized to Ms. Adames and acknowledged that she was not involved in any robbery,\u201d the court papers say.<\/p>\n

The cops even promised to take the photo down but then when she received more text messages the following day and called the precinct back, the detectives apologized once again but \u201cinformed her that they were not going to take her picture down from the Facebook Post, despite the fact that she was no longer wanted for any crime,\u201d the suit charges.<\/p>\n

Adames, who works for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, says her reputation was damaged at work and in her neighborhood.<\/p>\n

She says she had to be interviewed by two Department of Homeland Security agents and file a written report and she now has to \u201creport this incident on all future app<\/a>lications to the federal government,\u201d the court papers say.<\/p>\n

The whole debacle caused her to lose sleep for weeks and even \u201ccontributed to Ms. Adames suffering a miscarriage,\u201d the court documents allege.<\/p>\n

\u201cMs. Adames was shocked and extremely distressed that her picture was included on this NYPD Facebook post.,\u201d her lawyer Malcolm Anderson told The Post. \u201cWhat added insult to injury was that, after the NYPD acknowledged that Ms. Adames had absolutely nothing to do with any robbery, the NYPD still refused to remove her picture from Facebook.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adames is suing the city and the detectives for unspecified damages.<\/p>\n

The city Law Department and the NYPD did not immediately return a request for comment.<\/p>\n
