Pastors don\u2019t belong on pedestals \u2014 or so says Justin Bieber.<\/p>\n

In an interview with GQ<\/a>, the pop superstar opened up about how he feels when pastors let fame go to their heads.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think so many pastors put themselves on this pedestal,\u201d the devout songwriter, 27, told the publication without making a direct reference to Carl Lentz, the disgraced former Hillsong megachurch pastor who Bieber once counted among his best friends. The \u201cBaby\u201d singer doesn\u2019t reference Hillsong or Lentz in the GQ interview, but spoke at length about the role pastors play in a church.<\/p>\n

\u201c[It\u2019s] basically, church can be surrounded around the man, the pastor, the guy, and it\u2019s like, \u2018This guy has this ultimate relationship with God that we all want but we can\u2019t get because we\u2019re not this guy,\u2019 \u201d Bieber said. \u201cThat\u2019s not the reality, though. The reality is, every human being has the same access to God.\u201d<\/p>\n

Neither Justin Bieber nor Hillsong returned The Post\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n

While Bieber was critical of pastors, he did praise pastor Judah Smith, who runs the celebrity-beloved Churchome.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe put our relationship first,\u201d Bieber said of Smith, and touted Smith\u2019s close ties with his own family.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was something I always dreamed of because my family was broken,\u201d Bieber said. \u201cMy whole life, I had a broken family. And so I was just attracted to a family that eats dinners together, laughs together, talks together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bieber, who released his new LP \u201cJustice\u201d last month, also revealed that his marriage to model Hailey Baldwin, 24, had a rocky start.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first year of marriage was really tough,\u201d he said, \u201cbecause there was a lot, going back to the trauma stuff. There was just lack of trust. There was all these things that you don\u2019t want to admit to the person that you\u2019re with, because it\u2019s scary. You don\u2019t want to scare them off by saying, \u2018I\u2019m scared.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n

The Canada-born songwriter also opened up about hitting rock bottom five years ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a sense of still yearning for more,\u201d he said, admitting that his security guards were so concerned for his well-being, they\u2019d sneak into his room to check his pulse and ensure he was alive.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was like I had all this success and it was still like: I\u2019m still sad, and I\u2019m still in pain,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd I still have these unresolved issues. And I thought all the success was going to make everything good. And so for me, the drugs were a numbing agent to just continue to get through.\u201d<\/p>\n
