“#Wyatt Pike breaks silence after quitting ‘American Idol’<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Wyatt Pike is finally speaking out on his shocking surprise exit from \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d \u2014 and he\u2019s towing the party line.<\/p>\n

Frustrated fans of the self-proclaimed \u201c20-year-old Utah kid\u201d<\/a> shouldn\u2019t expect too much relief from his first official statement. <\/p>\n

\u201cI had to leave the\u00a0@AmericanIdol<\/a>\u00a0competition for personal reasons but am so thankful I get to play music for the rest of my life,\u201d Pike posted Wednesday<\/a> on Instagram. \u201cFellow contestants \u2014 miss you all, good luck!\u201d<\/p>\n

This vague announcement pretty much parrots what show reps told The Post earlier this week when Pike quit right before the top 12 was announced.<\/p>\n

\u201cWyatt\u00a0could\u00a0not\u00a0continue\u00a0due to personal reasons, and we cannot comment further,\u201d was the official word on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Reps for Pike, however, declined to comment as social media<\/a> rumors that he\u00a0broke COVID-19 restrictions<\/a>\u00a0to fly home spread like digital wildfire.<\/p>\n

The mysterious departure came on the heels of the young performer\u2019s show-stopping moment: On Sunday\u2019s pre-taped show, Pike wowed the judges panel with his confident rendition<\/a> of the Kings of Leon\u2019s 2008 hit \u201cUse Somebody.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore we get to the results, I have to tell you that finalist Wyatt Pike will not be competing in the competition,\u201d host Ryan Seacrest, 46, announced without ceremony on Monday\u2019s first live show of the season. \u201cHe had to drop out \u2014 but we wish him the very best, OK?\u201d<\/p>\n

After Pike\u2019s final performance, judge Lionel Richie, 71, predicted the young singer was on his way to \u201csomething big.\u201d Meanwhile, Katy Perry, 36, went so far as to proclaim that Pike was \u201can authentic singer-writer. I think whatever happ<\/a>ens \u2014 you\u2019re it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finally, Luke Bryan \u2014 who was\u00a0out Monday due to a positive COVID-19 test<\/a>, with O.G. \u201cA.I.\u201d judge Paula Abdul filling in for him \u2014 made what now seems like a somewhat prescient statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember one of the coolest things ever happened to me is the day I realized that I get to do music forever, under any circumstance,\u201d Bryan, 44, told Pike. \u201cI\u2019m telling you, Wyatt, you are going to be able to do music for the rest of your life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pike appears to have taken Bryan\u2019s words to heart. <\/p>\n

And he did offer a teaser of hope for his passionate fanbase in his most recent Insta post: \u201cThank you to everyone for your support \u2026 do stick around for more musical things soon!\u201d<\/p>\n
