“#’Chesapeake Shores’ Sets Season 5 Premiere Date, Adds Robert Buckley<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Chesapeake Shores<\/em><\/a> fans, it may have seemed like a long wait for any<\/em> news<\/a> about the fifth season, but we have some more.<\/p>\n

The series<\/a>, with new showrunner Pheof Sutton, returns on Sunday, August 15. Robert Buckley<\/a>, whom Hallmark Channel viewers will recognize from movies (including 2020\u2019s The Christmas House<\/em>), is joining the cast when it does as Evan McKenzie \u2014 \u201ca successful, young entrepreneur brings a new development project into town,\u201d Deadline<\/em><\/a> reports. He\u2019ll be challenging Abby O\u2019Brien (Meghan Ory<\/a>), who is now her father Mick\u2019s (Treat Williams<\/a>) business partner. (Williams also starred in The Christmas House<\/em> with Buckley.)<\/p>\n

\u201cBreak out the SPF 80, we\u2019re heading to the Shores,\u201d Buckley wrote on Twitter<\/a> while sharing the news.<\/p>\n

And yes, Jesse Metcalfe\u2019s<\/a>exit was very recently announced, but we\u2019re already wondering if Evan is going to become a new love interest for Abby. This is a TV drama, after all.<\/p>\n

Metcalfe is leaving the Hallmark Channel drama after starring as Trace since the series premiere in 2016. \u201cHis character\u2019s storyline will wrap up early in Season 5,\u201d the network said in a statement at the time. Season 4 ended with exes Abby and Trace seemingly about to find their way back together, but something tells us that\u2019s going to change.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are always issues when one child out of many is designated to take over the family business. Abby, in a lot of respects, is perfectly suited for it,\u201d former showrunner Michael Berns told TV Insider after the Season 4 finale. \u201cThere is a lot of potential for a lot of family conflict especially [involving] Abby\u2019s employment from her father: What does that mean for money for the family? What does it mean for who\u2019s going to control the O\u2019Brien business? I don\u2019t know if Abby and Mick can work together terribly well either.\u201d<\/p>\n
