[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for the Season 7 premiere of Younger<\/em><\/a>, \u201cA Decent Proposal.\u201d]<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWill you marry me?\u201d Charles (Peter Hermann<\/a>) asked his girlfriend, Liza (Sutton Foster<\/a>), during Diana\u2019s (Miriam Shor) wedding back in September 2019. On April 15, we finally have her answer\u2026eventually.<\/p>\n

Picking up right where the previous episode left off, the Season 7 premiere sends Diana off on her honeymoon and allows Charles and Liza to finish their conversation. But he doesn\u2019t get the answer he\u2019s hoping for at that moment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe answer is I love you,\u201d Liza says. \u201cBut technically you\u2019re not even divorced yet\u2026and I also think you may be a little drunk.\u201d While both are true, he sees this as her just \u201cavoiding the question.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is the most beautiful question I have ever heard,\u201d she says, but first, they should both talk to their kids. \u201cWe don\u2019t have to rush. I\u2019m not going anywhere.\u201d He agrees and even withdraws the proposal so now she<\/em> has to be the one to pop the question.<\/p>\n

But will she? Liza\u2019s pretty happ<\/a>y where they are right now in their relationship. \u201cIf I make that commitment, it\u2019s forever,\u201d she tells her best friend Maggie (Debi Mazar). \u201cWe can take our time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking of time, Charles is hoping that she uses exactly that while he\u2019s in Chicago on a business trip<\/a> to make her decision. She does, after a conversation with her ex-boyfriend Josh (Nico Tortorella<\/a>), who has seen a video of the proposal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat are you waiting for?\u201d Josh wonders when Liza admits she hasn\u2019t given Charles an answer. No matter who they\u2019re with, they\u2019re always going to be in each other\u2019s lives, the exes promise. \u201cRelationships don\u2019t have to be defined,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

With that in mind, Liza meets Charles to give him her answer and, again, it\u2019s not what he\u2019s hoping for. \u201cI\u2019ve been married and it didn\u2019t go so well. I love you and I don\u2019t want anything from you except your heart,\u201d she tells him. \u201cI want to be happily unmarried to you every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was not the proposal I was expecting but I do know what I want, and it\u2019s not a ride or some kind of fantasy,\u201d he says. \u201cI want to get off the carousel. I want a partner in life\u2026 I may be old-fashioned but I believe in marriage, and it may not have worked out for either of us the first time but I believe that it can work again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I think we\u2019re finally free of needing to define ourselves but those rules and obligations,\u201d she argues.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not young, Liza. And we both deserve what we really want. Thank you for letting me know what\u2019s in your heart,\u201d he tells her before kissing her goodbye on the forehead. (Ouch\u2026<\/em>)<\/p>\n

But this is just setting up Liza and Charles to find their way back together by the series<\/a> finale, right? Or should we be wondering about the role Quinn (Laura Benanti<\/a>) might have in Charles\u2019 life going forward? The two run into each other in Chicago \u2014 he\u2019s trying to find another investor after she pulled her money from his company, she\u2019s meeting with donors on an apology tour to explain why she dropped out of the senate race. And as he sees, failure \u201csuits\u201d her. There could be something<\/em> there. Uh-oh.<\/p>\n
