\n There can be no excuse for ignorance, not now \u2014 especially not now \u2014 not ever.<\/p>\n

DeSean Jackson isn\u2019t the only earthling who either slept in history class or was somehow unaware that Hitler \u2014 just writing his name makes my skin crawl \u2014 was a diabolical scourge to Jewish men, women and children.<\/p>\n

Much more unforgivable and unconscionable if he doesn\u2019t care.<\/p>\n

Jackson posting fake quotes from \u2014 in my eyes and in the eyes of any and every right-minded human being \u2014 the worst human being in the history of mankind on his Instagram story is \u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cOffensive, harmful, and absolutely app<\/a>alling.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those were the words in a statement released by the Eagles.<\/p>\n

Talk is cheap.<\/p>\n

Suspend him.<\/p>\n

There is no place for anti-Semitism in the NFL \u2014 or anywhere.<\/p>\n

By anyone. Of any race, creed or color.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m Jewish, and damn proud of it, so I know about anti-Semitism. I know about the Holocaust.<\/p>\n

\u201cHitler was a bad person, and I know that,\u201d Jackson said in way of explanation.<\/p>\n

Shameful that he didn\u2019t know how bad.<\/p>\n

Shameful that he didn\u2019t know how deeply so many would be offended.<\/p>\n

DeSean Jackson: \u201cI was just trying to uplift African Americans and slavery and just enlighten my people. \u2026 I didn\u2019t intend any harm or any hatred toward any people.\u201d<\/p>\n

During a watershed moment in this country\u2019s history, when so many are finally vowing to listen, vowing to do better, vowing to seek equality for all, we get DeSean Jackson giving us this, giving us hate-spewed reminders of Hitler and notorious anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan.<\/p>\n

Niners edge Nick Bosa scrubbed his Twitter<\/a> page that showed a \u201clike\u201d for a high school friend\u2019s hashtag use of the N word, but that was before NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reached the post-George Floyd conclusion that: \u201cWe were wrong.\u201d And Bosa was such a prospect that he was drafted second anyway.<\/p>\n

Back in 2014, a Dolphins safety named Don Jones made inappropriate remarks on Twitter when the Rams drafted Michael Sam, who is gay. The club said that Jones could not return to the team until he \u201cundergoes and completes educational training.\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the very least the Eagles should do here.<\/p>\n

And then there is this: Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie was born to Jewish parents. Eagles GM Howie Roseman is Jewish. Drew Rosenhaus and Joel Segal \u2014 two of Jackson\u2019s previous two agents \u2014 are Jewish.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s let Lurie and Roseman decide on the length of the suspension.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are continuing to evaluate the circumstances and will take appropriate action,\u201d the Eagles said.<\/p>\n

DeSean Jackson began his forced apology this way:<\/p>\n

\u201cI post a lot of things that are sent to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Well maybe you should think first, and maybe post later.<\/p>\n

And who exactly is it you know who is sending this hateful crap to you? And why is he or she sending it to you in the first place?<\/p>\n

Desean Jackson: \u201cAnyone who feels I have hate towards the Jewish community took my post the wrong way.\u201d<\/p>\n

How did you expect the Jewish community to take it?<\/p>\n

There are enough ignorant people in this world who spray-paint swastikas wherever they can. The last thing we need is anyone giving aid and comfort, however unintended, to the evildoers who kill innocent victims in any place of worship \u2014 11 were killed at the Tree of Life Synagogue in the Squirrel Hill section of Pittsburgh 21 months ago.<\/p>\n

Jackson must use his platform from this point forward to sing along with the equality chorus.<\/p>\n

Jackson later in the day apologized to Lurie and Roseman and his reps have spoken to Rabbi Doniel Grodnitzky of Chabad Young Philly. It\u2019s a start.<\/p>\n

Former Eagle Riley Cooper, a white wide receiver, was fined but not suspended for using a racial slur in a 2013 video.<\/p>\n

Jackson, even at 33, is a better player, still a deep threat.<\/p>\n

Doesn\u2019t matter.<\/p>\n

Shouldn\u2019t matter.<\/p>\n

Suspend him.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
