While <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>le might not offer a simple battery swap, there is another route you can take to extend the life of your earphones.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Apple_May_Replace_Your_AirPods\"><\/span>Apple May Replace Your AirPods<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If your AirPods are still under warranty and they develop a battery problem, Apple should replace them free of charge. In the US, Apple offers a limited warranty of one year. In other jurisdictions like the EU and Australia, this warranty is extended to two years by law.<\/p>\n<p>You might want to try this route if you\u2019re experiencing poor battery life, erratic charging behavior, or issues with the charging case itself. You can make an appointment at an Apple Store and take your AirPods in for testing. If you have AppleCare+ on your AirPods it\u2019s certainly worth requesting battery service before coverage ends, whether or not you\u2019ve noticed any problems.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, many issues don\u2019t show up until after the two-year mark.\u00a0If you\u2019re out of warranty then battery service is still available, though as one <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/technology\/2019\/10\/08\/everyones-airpods-will-die-weve-got-trick-replacing-them\/\">Washington Post<\/a> writer put it: \u201cApple\u2019s \u201cbattery service\u201d for AirPods is code for \u201cthrowing it away.\u201d Apple isn\u2019t repairing AirPods\u2014it\u2019s just replacing the ear buds and recycling your old ones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019re effectively trading your old AirPods for a refurbished pair at a cost of $49 per earbud (or $79 for a pair of AirPods Max). A similar service is available if you\u2019re having problems with the charging case too, at a cost of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/airpods\/repair\/service\">$49 per unit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-722448\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/airpods_battery_service_edited.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Apple Battery Service Prices for AirPods\" width=\"650\" height=\"287\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Considering a brand new pair of AirPods (without the wireless charging case) will cost you $159, paying $98 for refurbished earbuds seems like a raw deal. Newer AirPods use the more reliable H1 chip, too, so it\u2019s even harder to recommend getting an older refurbished model for that price.<\/p>\n<p>Your new AirPods will slowly lose battery life over time, too. That\u2019s how all batteries work.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Can_You_Replace_AirPods_Batteries_Yourself\"><\/span>Can You Replace AirPods Batteries Yourself?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Speaking to the Washington Post in 2019, iFixit CEO Kyle Wiens declared: \u201cThere is no way we can feasibly understand taking the battery out without completely destroying the AirPod,\u201d after attempting the procedure five times.<\/p>\n<p>This is what prompted the DIY resource to give the original AirPods a repairability score of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ifixit.com\/Teardown\/AirPods+Teardown\/75578\">0 out of 10<\/a>. The iFixit teardown notes that glue is the main hurdle in accessing the internals of Apple\u2019s earbuds.<\/p>\n<p>This is what makes repairing AirPods yourself, at home, such a seemingly impossible task. Not only are the cells that Apple uses tiny (93 milliwatt hours, according to iFixit\u2019s first-generation AirPods teardown), they\u2019re encased in glue and require the total destruction of the earbud to gain access.<\/p>\n<p>Even if you were able to source a suitable cell and replace it, you wouldn\u2019t have a plastic shell left to reassemble them afterward.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Airpods Teardown Review!\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ahNUjteea8w?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Replace_Your_AirPods_with_Podswap_Instead\"><\/span>Replace Your AirPods with Podswap Instead<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Despite iFixit\u2019s damning assessment, a company called Podswap appears to have discovered the trick to accessing and replacing the battery inside AirPods. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.podswap.com\">Podswap<\/a> offers an AirPod battery refurbishment process starting at $59.99 for Apple\u2019s first-generation earbuds.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t a traditional battery replacement, but a refurbishment process that focuses on replacing worn-out lithium cells. If you fail to send your old AirPods back within five days of receiving your refurbished pair you will be charged an additional fee of $49.99.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-722449 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/podswap_header_edited.jpg?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Podswap AirPods Replacement Service\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" data-credittext=\"Podswap\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span class=\"imagecredit\">Podswap<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>With this service, you first order a replacement pair of AirPods which show up in the mail. Once they\u2019ve arrived and you\u2019re happy with them you have five business days to put your old AirPods in the mail (return postage is free). Podswap receives your old AirPods, verifies that they are genuine, and refurbishes them for someone else.<\/p>\n<p>If you only have one AirPod to return, you can pay a premium of $89.99 to perform a \u201cone for two\u201d swap. Podswap only requires that you send in the AirPods and does not currently offer service for or replacement charging cases.<\/p>\n<p>Podswap sanitizes and cleans each AirPod it services. Because you will be receiving a refurbished replacement pair, the replacements likely won\u2019t look brand new and may have scratches and other cosmetic defects. The company will likely extend the service to AirPods Pro in the future since it already has a waiting list to gauge interest.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s worth taking a look at the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thepodswap.com\/apps\/help-center\">Podswap FAQ<\/a>\u00a0if you\u2019re thinking of using the service to make sure you\u2019re aware of how the whole process works. All replacement AirPods received have a 90-day warranty to cover any defects you might encounter.
