Last month, NHK aired a special documentary<\/span><\/a> that followed Hideaki Anno<\/strong>‘s work on the latest Evangelion<\/strong><\/em> film,\u00a0Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time<\/i><\/b>, but due to popular demand, the\u00a0public broadcaster is rebuilding\u00a0the special into the 100-minute documentary “Goodbye All of Evangelion ~\u00a01214 days of Hideaki Anno ~”. The special will air on NHK’s BS 1 channel on April 29 in two 50-minute blocks from 8 PM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The new special will be an extended version of the\u00a075-minute Professional Work Style special featuring extended scenes and more interviews that couldn’t fit into the timeslot of the original special. After the news<\/a> that 3.0+1.0 has become the highest-grossing Evangelion<\/strong><\/em> film worldwide, it’ll be interesting to look even closer at the production of the final Evangelion<\/strong><\/em> film.<\/p>\n

Evangelion 3.0+1.0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>finally opened in Japan after being delayed twice due to the coronavirus pandemic on March 8,\u00a0<\/span>breaking<\/span><\/a>\u00a0franchise records on the first day and eventually\u00a0becoming the highest-grossing film<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in the franchise in Japan in less than a month, then the highest-grossing worldwide<\/span><\/a> in 35 days. It is the\u00a0longest film<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>in the franchise (not including compilations or special screenings). There is no\u00a0word yet on an international release of the film.<\/p>\n
