But his star shined the brightest when it came to eating. <\/p>\n<p>The prolific foodie <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2018\/06\/08\/anthony-bourdain-dies-of-suicide-at-61\/\">died by suicide<\/a> in 2018 at age 61, but his new posthumous book, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/World-Travel-Irreverent-Anthony-Bourdain\/dp\/0062802798\/?tag=nypost-20\">\u201cWorld Travel: An Irreverent Guide,\u201d<\/a> (Ecco) comes out Tuesday. It highlights his favorite travel spots and is already a best seller on Amazon.<\/p>\n<p>Written by Bourdain and Laurie Woolever, a food writer who spent more than a decade working as his assistant, the book is a compilation of interviews and quotes from his time on television, in shows such as \u201cParts Unknown\u201d and \u201cNo Reservations.\u201d Interspersed with essays honoring him from friends and family, the collection is a handheld directory to Bourdain\u2019s oeuvre.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to must-eat joints in Finland and Malaysia, the book devotes ample space to Bourdain\u2019s backyard, New York City. Years later, he noted that cuisines in the neighborhood were evolving. \u201cPeople slowly became aware that there are, in fact, various regions within China and that just maybe this isn\u2019t what real Cantonese food is like after all,\u201d he said in 2018, in the last-ever \u201cParts Unknown\u201d episode. \u201cWe \u2026 discovered more authentic dishes, but I think maybe we lost something.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Vintage American-Chinese fare continued to draw him to this cash-only locale. If you were to order a drink with more than two components, you\u2019d get the dirty look,\u201d the chef said. <\/p>\n<p>He means that with no disrespect, of course. \u201cIt\u2019s remnant of another era,\u201d he said. \u201cI believe people have died there.\u201d Still, Bourdain frequented the bar often, loving its Tiki decorations especially.
