More than a\u00a0dozen people on a\u00a0Florida\u00a0beach\u00a0joined together to form a human chain and brave the rough Gulf tide to\u00a0rescue\u00a0a stranded swimmer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Briana Stelmachers and her family were lounging outside the Emerald Isle Resort in Panama City Beach on Wednesday when they heard a woman screaming for help.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A little girl had gotten pulled out in the tide, and a woman had successfully swum out to save her, but a second woman involved in the rescue effort had herself gotten stuck.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s when Ryan, Briana\u2019s husband, took a raft and tried to rescue the woman, but the surf was too rough and he struggled to reach her.<\/p>\n

Ryan described the rescue effort as \u201cone step forward\u201d and \u201cthree steps\u201d back.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo once my husband got out there, and I saw they were struggling, you know I kind of panicked but you know the strangers held my daughter and watched my son while I could help and everyone got back in safe,\u201d Briana\u00a0told WMBB<\/a><\/p>\n

The safe return was thanks to dozens of people coming together across the beach to form a human chain and reach out into the water.<\/p>\n

Loredana Lupei recorded the rescue and\u00a0posted the video to Storyful<\/a>, which shows people cheering after returning everyone safely to shore.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was really powerful,\u201d Lupei told Storyful.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ryan Stelmachers described the current as the worst he\u2019s ever seen. The beach indicated a \u201cSingle Red\u201d flag, which was upgraded to\u00a0\u201cDouble Red\u201d to indicate the danger of swimming.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m the last person in the world to say that because I\u2019m always like, \u2018Let\u2019s go to the beach,\u2019 you know?\u201d Ryan explained. \u201c\u2018It\u2019s no big deal, I\u2019m not scared,\u2019\u00a0but that was no joke today.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
