Helen McCrory, actress in \u201cHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows\u201d and the James Bond film \u201cSkyfall\u201d as well as shows including \u201cPeaky Blinders,\u201d has died at 52. <\/p>\n

Her husband, fellow actor Damian Lewis, confirmed that she passed away<\/a> peacefully after a battle with cancer. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m heartbroken to announce that after a heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family,\u201d Lewis, 50, tweeted<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cShe died as she lived,\u201d Lewis continued. \u201cFearlessly. God we loved her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She blazed so brightly. Go now, Little One, into the air, and thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lewis shares two young children with McCrory, daughter Manon, 14, and son Gulliver, 13. The couple married in 2007 after meeting on the production of \u201cFive Gold Rings\u201d at London\u2019s Almeida Theatre in 2003, according to the Sun<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am broken-hearted to lose such a dear friend,\u201d her \u201cPeak Blinders\u201d co-star Cillian Murphy said in a statement to The Post. \u201cHelen was a beautiful, caring, funny, compassionate human being. She was also a gifted actor \u2014 fearless and magnificent. She elevated and made humane every scene, every character she played. It was a privilege to have worked with this brilliant woman, to have shared so many laughs over the years. I will dearly miss my pal.\u00a0My love and thoughts are with Damian and her family.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to her roles as MP Clair Dowar in \u201cSkyfall\u201d and Polly Gray in \u201cPeaky Blinders,\u201d McCrory was cast as Bellatrix Lestrange in \u201cHarry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix<\/a>\u201d \u2014 but the role was filled by Helena Bonham Carter after McCrory became pregnant. But McCrory later returned to the franchise to play Narcissa Malfoy, the mother of Draco Malfoy, in \u201cHarry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.\u201d <\/p>\n

McCrory, who was born in Paddington in 1968, committed her life to acting. She studied her craft at the Drama Centre in London and appeared in stage productions until her film career took off with \u201cInterview With the Vampire\u201d in 1994, and \u201cThe Queen\u201d in 2006. <\/p>\n

As recently as three weeks ago, McCrory was confirmed to be returning to \u201cPeaky Blinders\u201d for the show\u2019s sixth and final season. <\/p>\n

McCrory and Lewis met in 2003 while working on a production of the play \u201cFive Gold Rings\u201d in London.\u00a0\u201cOh, there was something in the air that was just extraordinary,\u201d recalled<\/a> director Michael Attenborough of their chemistry in a 2013\u00a0interview with Vogue UK. \u201cI witnessed two people falling for each other hook, line and sinker, which, of course, worked brilliantly in the play.\u201d<\/p>\n

The close-knit couple \u2014 at the time starring in Showtime\u2019s \u201cHomeland\u201d \u2014 were guests at a 2012 White House dinner in honor of then-British Prime Minister David Cameron. <\/p>\n

They found themselves seated with President Barack Obama at the event. \u201cAnd it turned out we were sitting directly opposite the president at his table. We were sort of like guests of honor. The whole thing was very surreal and remarkable,\u201d Lewis said at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe just made me laugh a lot. And still does,\u201d McCrory told Woman\u2019s Weekly last year<\/a> of Lewis. \u201cOf course, everyone in life wants someone to love and be loved by, but I think until [I met him] I was always just engrossed in work.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n
