\n A DoorDash driver took a harrowing ride through a New Jersey drainage system after getting caught in a flash flood \u2014 and survived.<\/p>\n

Nathalia Bruno, 24, was making a delivery during a heavy rainstorm when her car got caught in deep waters Monday in Passaic, said local Fire Chief Patrick Trentacost.<\/p>\n

The Newark woman was able to escape the vehicle as it began to fill with water, Trentacost said, according to NorthJersey.com.<\/p>\n

But strong currents pulled her and the car into the brook that runs below the city.<\/p>\n

Rushing waters pushed Bruno for about a mile before she was \u201cshot out\u201d into the Passaic River, said Rutherford Police Chief John Russo.<\/p>\n

Bruno was able to swim to the bank of the river and climbed out and into a nearby backyard. The homeowner then called an ambulance which took the woman to St. Mary\u2019s General<\/a> Hospital in Passaic.<\/p>\n

She seemed \u201cstunned\u201d but otherwise didn\u2019t app<\/a>ear injured, Russo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was out of it. In shock. She really didn\u2019t know what happened to her,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t clear whether Bruno had been released from the hospital by Tuesday. Her car has yet to be recovered.<\/p>\n

DoorDash, the food delivery service, confirmed her employment to NorthJersey.com, and said it would offer occupational insurance to help pay her medical bills.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
