JPMorgan Chase treated indicted employees better than an executive who cooperated with federal investigators, according to a lawsuit.<\/p>\n

Commodities trader Donald Turnbull claims in court papers he was abruptly canned from the bank\u2019s precious metals trading group as soon as JPMorgan execs discovered the extent of his cooperation with the U.S. Department of Justice.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, the DOJ indicted six JPMorgan traders in 2019 for spoofing, or market manipulation through creating fake supply and demand. <\/p>\n

In 2019, Turnbull says the information he gave the DOJ \u201crevealed significant, multi-year lapses in JPMorgan\u2019s trading oversight mechanisms and enforcement judgments.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of the six accused employees, three were \u201creleased\u201d from their jobs \u201cfavorably,\u201d Turnbull claims in Manhattan Federal Court papers, while one resigned, and two others were terminated only after their indictments were unsealed.<\/p>\n

But Turnbull, a 15-year veteran of the bank, was canned<\/a>, had his unvested stock options canceled, and faced JPMorgan\u2019s threats to \u201cclaw back his prior compensation,\u201d he charges in the litigation. He was not accused in the DOJ probe.<\/p>\n

The bank justified Turnbull\u2019s termination by claiming he himself had engaged in trades which had \u201cthe app<\/a>earance of spoofing,\u201d a claim which, he says, was \u201cretaliatory.\u201d <\/p>\n

Turnbull is seeking unspecified damages. JPMorgan Chase declined comment.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
