Alaska will give tourism a shot in the arm.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The state will make free COVID vaccines available to visitors arriving at key airports starting on June 1, Gov. Mike Dunleavy announced Friday, part of the Republican\u2019s effort\u00a0to boost<\/a>\u00a0the state\u2019s beleaguered tourism industry.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we\u2019re saying to our tourists is if you come to Alaska \u2026 you get a free vaccination, if you want one,\u201d\u00a0Dunleavy said<\/a>. \u201cYou come in you want a shot, you come to visit Alaska you get a shot. You don\u2019t have to pay for it. We\u2019ll have things set up at the airport and we\u2019ll help you out.\u201d<\/p>\n

The vaccinations will be available at both the Anchorage and Fairbanks international airports and \u201cwe\u2019re having conversations with a couple other airports\u201d the governor said.<\/p>\n

Alaska reportedly has a surplus of vaccines and made them available to all residents more than a month ago. The state reports a total of just 329 COVID deaths since the outbreak began more than a year ago. <\/p>\n
