With no other choice, Joel attempts to blend in or risk becoming the next victim.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>REVIEW:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cody Calahan wrote and directed <em>Vicious Fun<\/em>. <em>Vicious Fun <\/em>should be sub-genre. If you want to know what this movie is about? It\u2019s the title. IT\u2019S VICIOUS FUN!<\/p>\n<p>The film opens in Minnesota, 1983 with a man sharpening his knives in a hotel room. He\u2019s leaving and picks up Carrie (Amber Goldfarb). It gets vicious right away. Whether it was intentional or not, <em>Vicious Fun <\/em>has quite a few horror homages, and I appreciate it.<span id=\"more-165761\"\/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-165793\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"289\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-7.jpg 550w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-7-310x163.jpg 310w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-7-100x53.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Evan Marsh plays Joel, and he reviews horror <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> for Vicious Fanatics. Joel is interviewing Jack Portwood (Gord Rand). Joel has some ideas on what a horror movie should be\u2026 Jack doesn\u2019t want to hear it. Oddly enough, it\u2019s storming as I\u2019m watching <em>Vicious Fun<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Joel\u2019s roommate Sarah (Alexa Rose Steele) gets dropped off by her boyfriend. She wants to have a girl\u2019s night and watch <em>Falcon Crest<\/em>. Cindy (Joanne Jansen) is dropped off. Joel heads out, and he\u2019s distracted by Sarah\u2019s obnoxious boyfriend.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s take a moment to talk about the music. It\u2019s this <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a>py synth music. It\u2019s not overwhelming for the movie.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-165792\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-6.jpg 550w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-6-310x144.jpg 310w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-6-100x47.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Joel decides to follow Bob (Ari Millen), the boyfriend. Bob is creepy, he\u2019s giving the creepy vibes. Joel gets a little drunk in the process and he runs into Carrie (Amber Goldfarb). I\u2019ve seen a lot of stuff in life, I\u2019ve seen people hurl in public but never on a pay phone.<\/p>\n<p>There are AA meetings, meetings for addiction, eating disorder meetings, therapy, and serial killer support groups. It\u2019s a thing.<\/p>\n<p>We meet Fritz (Julian Richings), Mike (Robert Maillet), Hideo (Sean Baek), Zachary (David Koechner), and Carrie (Amber Goldfarb).<\/p>\n<p>Joel stumbled in to the serial killer self-help group as Phil. Phil (Joe Bostick) was seen a tad earlier in the movie. David Koechner (<em>Thank You For Smoking, Justified, Anchorman 2: The Legend <\/em>Continues) is great in <em>Vicious Fun<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Julian Richings (<em>Urban Legend, Man of <\/em>Steel) is great, he just disappears in ever character. He\u2019s playing an accountant again, well a serial killer using an accountant as a cover story. (Watch <em>Polar<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-165791\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"287\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-5.jpg 550w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-5-310x162.jpg 310w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-5-100x52.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Zachary makes the rounds and each killer talks. They want \u2018Phil\u2019s\u2019 story now. Joel is trying to find a way out of this meeting now during a break. There is a knock at the door. OH MY GOSH!!! You won\u2019t believe who is at the door\u2026 Nope, I\u2019m not even going to type it out.<\/p>\n<p>The serial killer support group isn\u2019t going too well. I grew up watching horror movies. I also grew up with a mom who was sort of taking care of herself since she was maybe sixteen. It\u2019s hard to trust people in <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Carrie decides to help Joel. Carrie gives Joel the run-down of these killers. Bob may be the Dahmer or Bundy of the group. This movie is entertaining, funny, creepy, and bloody. It\u2019s fun!<\/p>\n<p>There are all sorts of kills in this movie and an interesting strangulation. \u00a0The special effects and make-up people really outdid themselves with <em>Vicious <\/em>Fun. Ari Millen (<em>Orphan Black, Rupture<\/em>) is fabulous. His character is twisted and lively. So, things take a turn and the cops show up after a phone call.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-165790\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-4.jpg 550w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-4-310x150.jpg 310w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-4-100x49.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Carrie and Joel are taken to the police station. We meet the detectives and Carrie tries to warn them. This isn\u2019t going well but Officer Tony\u2019s description of Horror and how it\u2019s a genre with sub-genres within a genre underneath a genre, stuck in the corner. Horror is kicked out of the mainstream genres but HORROR can blend. It can weave in and out of mainstream genres. Watch the movie.<\/p>\n<p>These cops just let the serial killer stroll right through the front door. Why do people always go an investigate the noise they hear? <em>Vicious Fun <\/em>asks all those questions.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, lets discuss Julian Richings as this John Wayne Gacy \/ Captain Spaulding psycho clown, scientist serial killer. It\u2019s a look, it\u2019s a feeling only Julian Richings could accomplish.<\/p>\n<p>Mike, the serial killer has a welder\u2019s mask and a machete. CODY CALAHAN, THANK YOU for putting Julian Richings and Ari Millen in a movie together. That is one of the best things about <em>Vicious Fun<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-165789\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"243\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-3.jpg 550w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-3-310x137.jpg 310w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-3-100x44.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Throughout the movie, Joel\u2019s know-it-all horror knowledge sort of goes out the window.<\/p>\n<p>All these police station shenanigans are going on. Carrie decides she\u2019s going to end this once and for all. It\u2019s a brief fight scene but Carrie gets to take on Mike. She kicks ass.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-165788\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"252\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-2.jpg 550w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-2-310x142.jpg 310w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Vicious-Fun-2020-movie-review-2-100x46.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s nice to see Amber Goldfarb getting to kick ass onscreen. <em>Vicious Fun <\/em>was excellent. It was brutal and gnarly. The story was fun. It\u2019s definitely one of the best horror comedies, and I think it\u2019s one my favorite films that I covered for Panic Fest 2021.
