The Philips Hue Sync Box is a great way to make your TV content more immersive if you pair it with your existing Philips Hue lights or the Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip<\/a>. It\u2019s pretty simple to set up\u2014here\u2019s how.<\/p>\n

First, download<\/a> the Hue Sync app for your iPhone<\/a>, iPad<\/a>, or Android<\/a> device. Keep in mind that this is different from the regular Philips Hue app. Once you open the app for the first time, you\u2019ll be greeted with a welcome screen. Select \u201cGet Started.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Tap<\/p>\n

Next, it will ask you whether your Hue Bridge is set up. If it is, great! Go ahead and tap \u201cYes.\u201d If it isn\u2019t, check out our guide on how to set up your Philips Hue lights.<\/p>\n

The app will then ask you whether your Hue Sync Box is set up. To do this, simply plug the Sync Box into power, make sure that all the HDMI inputs that you\u2019d like to use are plugged in, and ensure that the Sync Box is then plugged into your TV via HDMI. Once all that is done, tap \u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"If<\/p>\n

If it\u2019s set up correctly, your Hue Sync Box\u2019s front LED should be blinking blue. If it is, tap \u201cYes.\u201d If it\u2019s blinking a different color, select \u201cNo,\u201d and the app will guide you through some troubleshooting steps.<\/p>\n

\"Tap<\/p>\n

Accept the Terms and Conditions by selecting \u201cAccept.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Agree<\/p>\n

Next, make sure that your mobile device\u2019s Bluetooth connection is turned on, hold it close to your Sync Box, and tap \u201cSearch.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"With<\/p>\n

The app will then search for the Sync Box to pair. A Bluetooth notification should appear asking you to confirm whether you\u2019d like to pair your phone with the Sync Box. Tap \u201cPair & connect.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"When<\/p>\n

If it\u2019s set up correctly, you\u2019ll see a success confirmation. Next, we\u2019ll set up Wi-Fi by tapping \u201cSet up Wi-Fi.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Tap<\/p>\n

Select your home Wi-Fi network. You\u2019ll be asked to input your password on the next screen. Do that and press enter.<\/p>\n

\"Choose<\/p>\n

Next, you\u2019ll be prompted to confirm the connection. Press and hold the power button on the front of the Sync Box until the LED on the front flashes green, and then release.<\/p>\n

\"Confirm<\/p>\n

It will then automatically check for updates, and update if needed.\u00a0While the update is installing, the Sync Box may restart. Once it\u2019s finished, it will inform you that the update was successful. Select \u201cContinue.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Tap<\/p>\n

Next, we\u2019ll have to connect the Hue Sync Box to the Hue Bridge. This is easy. Select \u201cSearch for Hue Bridge.\u201d<\/p>\n

It will search for a Bridge on your network. Then, when prompted, press the center button on the Hue Bridge.<\/p>\n

Once it\u2019s connected, tap \u201cNext.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next, the app will ask you what room or entertainment area you\u2019d like to set the Sync Box in. If you have an entertainment area already set up in the Philips Hue app, simply select it. If you don\u2019t, tap \u201cCreate Entertainment Area.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tap \u201cCreate Area.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Tap<\/p>\n

Select the lights that you\u2019d like to use in the Entertainment Area\u2014only color-capable lights will show up here. Once you\u2019ve selected your lights, tap \u201cContinue.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Select<\/p>\n

Determine the position where your lights will be located. Tap and drag the lights to the correct areas in your room. For this example, I\u2019ve positioned my Philips Hue Lightstrip<\/a> behind my TV and my lamp to the right of my couch. Once you\u2019re done, tap \u201cNext.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next, you can change the height of the lights by tapping on the light you\u2019d like to edit. Once that\u2019s done, tap \u201cTest Area.\u201d<\/p>\n

Your entertainment area has been created! Select \u201cGot it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Tap<\/p>\n

Now, it will take you back to the original screen where it searched for Entertainment Areas. Now that we\u2019ve created one, give it a moment and it will take you to a new screen. Select the Entertainment Area that you just created. (For this guide, it\u2019s \u201cEntertainment area 1.\u201d)<\/p>\n

\"Select<\/p>\n

Name your HDMI inputs. If you tap the HDMI icon, you can even select presets like \u201cXbox,\u201d \u201cPlayStation,\u201d or \u201cChromecast.\u201d Then tap \u201cNext.\u201d<\/p>\n

Your area has been set up! Tap \u201cLet\u2019s Go!\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Tap<\/p>\n

The app will now take you to the Home screen of the Hue Sync App. You can select different modes, intensities, and brightness. Your lights won\u2019t immedia<\/a>tely sync to the contents of the screen. To begin syncing, select \u201cStart\u201d at the bottom of the app.<\/p>\n

Now your lights should match the video on your TV! From this menu, you can also adjust the intensity of the lights, change inputs on the Hue Sync Box, and alter brightness and sync mode. To stop, simply press \u201cStop\u201d at the bottom of the app.<\/p>\n
