Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg landed on the injured list Sunday with right shoulder inflammation, after insisting that he was healthy after getting tagged for eight runs in his most recent outing.<\/p>\n

Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Sunday that an MRI revealed Strasburg has \u201csome inflammation\u201d and that the organization wants \u201cto be smart,\u201d without divulging a timetable for a return.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is all about Stephen right now and taking care of Stephen to make sure that when he does come back, he\u2019s ready to go,\u201d Martinez said.<\/p>\n

Strasburg also was angered after Tuesday\u2019s 14-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals that he was shown on the television broadcast during the third inning of the game<\/a> rubbing the area between his neck and shoulder while seated inside the tunnel between the dugout and the clubhouse. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s a joke, to be honest, that they shoot in the tunnel,\u201d Strasburg said after the game, in which his fastball velocity dipped to 91 mph. \u201cThere\u2019s got to be some sort of safe place in the stadium. There have been plenty of other starts where something is not feeling right, and whether you treat yourself or you have a trainer come treat you, it\u2019s just part of the business.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went out there and I gave it everything I had. It wasn\u2019t good enough tonight. There should be some sort of privacy. People don\u2019t watch the games on TV to watch some sort of spy camera watching what the player is doing in the tunnel.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old righty\u2019s latest stint on the IL is retroactive to April 15, with Paolo Espino summoned from the Nats\u2019 alternate site to start in his place Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks<\/p>\n
