Judge Lionel Richie kicked the show off in grand fashion with \u201cSay You, Say Me\u201d from the film <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">White Nights<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The hit earned him a statuette for \u201cBest Original Song\u201d in 1986. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wAhoH3CgmoY\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wAhoH3CgmoY<\/a><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\"\/><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Richie joined fellow judges Katy Perry and Luke Bryan, who recovered from COVID. The <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Idol <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hopefuls then gave their during the live broadcast for America\u2019s vote. In-house mentor Bobby Bones helped them mentally prepare for the stage. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, only nine made it through and get to take a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a> to Disney World in Orlando. Host Ryan Seacrest revealed Beane, Ava August, and Madison Watkins had their curtain call.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The final slot goes to who out of the 10 singers returning from last season on the April 19 show gets the nod from viewers. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Who do you think delivered? She spoke with Bobby before the performance about setting a body-positive example to girls watching at home. Katy Perry said she can sing the telephone book. Luke liked how she commands the stage. Lionel admired her control and how comfortable she looked on stage. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ava_August_Is_a_Star_on_the_Rise\"><\/span><b>Ava August Is a Star on the Rise <\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Bobby was surprised by her poise at a young age but encouraged her to be a kid. She took the 15-year-old on a driving lesson in a golf cart. She chose \u201cCity of Stars,\u201d the duet Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone from the musical <em>La La Land<\/em>. Luke was amazed at Ava\u2019s maturity. Lionel wasn\u2019t sure about the driving skills but is confident in her singing ability. Katy wanted her to show more youthful exuberance. She did appreciate the dress and Doc Martens combo.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Caleb_Kennedy_Goes_Fishing\"><\/span><b>Caleb Kennedy Goes Fishing <\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Caleb goes fishing with Bobby before taking the stage, helping channel back home. The country crooner puts on the cowboy hat and grabs his guitar once again for \u201cOn the Road Again\u201d by Willie Nelson from <i>Honeysuckle Rose. <\/i>Lionel stood for the 16-year-old\u2019s efforts, feeling if he keeps it up he\u2019ll be on the road for a very long time. Katy liked his authentic grit. Luke thought it was his best performance, picking the right song.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hunter_Metts_Gets_Emotional\"><\/span><b>Hunter Metts Gets Emotional <\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To help with Hunter\u2019s confidence issues, Bobby had him rehearse in front of a wall of mirrors outside. He went for a softer song this week with \u201cFalling Slowly\u201d by Glen Hansard and Mark\u00e9ta Irglov\u00e1 from<i> Once. <\/i>Hunter teared up and broke down toward the end of the performance. Katy felt it was his best performance and that showing vulnerability resonates with people. Luke enjoyed the ride Hunter took him on. Lionel recalled forgetting the words on \u201cHello\u201d at a concert but noting the crowd loved it. He felt Hunter\u2019s rendition was perfect.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Madison_Watkins_Channels_Her_Inner_Diva\"><\/span><b>Madison Watkins Channels Her Inner Diva <\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>After being a judge\u2019s save, she came out swinging with \u201cRun to You\u201d by Whitney Houston\u2019s <em>The Bodyguard<\/em>. A song she sang growing up. Madison brings the glitz and glamour of Whitney to accompany strong vocals. Luke was glad she was brought back and will give America something to think about. Lionel thought she did a great job. Katy stood in applause for the performance and iconic look.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Chayce_Beckham_Inspires_America\"><\/span><b>Chayce Beckham Inspires America <\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Chayce looked back at his rock bottom moment and battles with alcohol with Bobby. He wanted to sing \u201c(Everything I Do) I Do It For You\u201d by Bryan Adams from <i>Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves <\/i>for everyone going through similar struggles. Lionel liked the second half in particular because he found himself. Katy felt he took it to the next level. Luke thinks he is the front-runner.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Beane_Has_the_Time_of_His_Life\"><\/span><b>Beane Has the Time of His Life<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Bobby felt he needed a big vocal performance after being saved last week. Beane turned to the popular \u201c(I\u2019ve Had) The Time of My Life,\u201d originally done for <em>Dirty Dancing <\/em>by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes. Katy liked the acoustic start with the guitar, leaving people on the edge of their seats. She said he was ready for the stage.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"This_Is_Alyssa_Wray\"><\/span><b>This Is Alyssa Wray <\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Alyssa decided on \u201cThis Is Me,\u201d performed by Keala Settle and The Greatest Showman Ensemble from <em>The Greatest Showman. <\/em>Earlier she told Bobby she sang the song as a junior in high school, connecting to the song\u2019s meaning. She talked about her struggles with being taller than others. Her plans are to win an Oscar and do it all as an actress and singer. Lionel called her a subtle force.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Deshawn_Goncalves_Makes_a_Memory\"><\/span><b>Deshawn Goncalves Makes a Memory <\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Bobby takes Deshawn on a carousel ride, so he remembers to have fun on stage. The <em>Idol <\/em>hopeful changed gears from last week, choosing a ballad from Barbra Streisand and <em>The Way We Were<\/em> from the movie of the same name. Luke found it beautiful and classic. He compared it to being in a time capsule. Katy called him a young Luke Vandross.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Casey_Bishop_Goes_Over_The_Rainbow\"><\/span><b>Casey Bishop Goes Over The Rainbow<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Judy Garland was just 16 when she sang \u201cSomewhere Over The Rainbow\u201d from <em>The Wizard of Oz<\/em>. The same age as Casey Bishop, who chose the song because it\u2019s from the first movie she ever saw. It also reminds the resident rocker of mom. Katy liked how she switched it up, calling her a front-runner. Luke enjoyed seeing the rock girl do something that keeps people guessing. Lionel complimented her delivery.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Cassie_Coleman_Takes_on_Bond\"><\/span><b>Cassie Coleman Takes on Bond <\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Cassie gravitated to the lyrics of \u201cWriting\u2019s on the Wall\u201d by Sam Smith from the James Bond <em>Spectre<\/em> soundtrack. She talked to Bobby before about facing negative feedback on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a>. Lionel and Luke gave positive marks to the former coffee barista. Katy tells Cassie it\u2019s more important how she sees herself rather and basically forget about the haters.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Willie_Spence_Gets_Them_Standing_Up\"><\/span><b>Willie Spence Gets Them Standing Up<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Bobby surprised Willie with words of encouragement from Cynthia Erivo, knowing he is dealing with the loss of his granddad. It got him in the right headspace to absolutely kill it on Cynthia\u2019s \u201cStand Up\u201d from her movie <em>Harriet<\/em>. Lionel called his performance a religious experience. Katy found it powerful, which cuts through any darkness.
