Today, we\u2019re watching a video essay about the interconnecting <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">theme<\/a>s of isolation, marketing, and futility in Duncan Jones\u2019 Moon.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p>Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, I\u2019ve accumulated a handful of films that, for whatever reason, resonate strongly with everything that\u2019s gone on over the course of the last year. For me, this has included unavoidably cabin-feverish films like <em>The Lighthouse<\/em>,<em> The Shining<\/em>, and<em> The Thing.<\/em> I\u2019ve also included psychological spirals like\u00a0<em>Dead Ringers<\/em> and <em>The Haunting<\/em>. Other people undoubtedly have similar mental lists. And thanks to the video essay below, I\u2019ve added another flick to the pile: <strong>Duncan Jones\u2019<\/strong> blue-collar sci-fi film <strong><em>Moon<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><i>Moon <\/i>follows Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell), a contract worker who harvests helium-3 from lunar soil, an essential energy source that has all but solved the climate crisis. Bell lives alone on the dark side of Earth\u2019s moon, with only a chirpy AI for company. Bell\u2019s basic needs are met. But his loneliness and isolation are palpable. He does his job, has hobbies, and supplements human contact with pre-recorded video messages. When the other moon-base friendly sneaker finally drops (a twist I won\u2019t spoil here), the terms of Bell\u2019s solitude change and intensify.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.14285rem;\">The concerns of <em>Moon <\/em>are specific enough to be both timely and <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.14285rem;\">transferable. Two-faced corporations making moves on space is a very real fear. As is the less theoretical concern that Capitalism thinks of labor as being replaceable.
