This is an ambitious increase of 21%, compared to last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">BMW\u2019s China Chief, Jochen Goller, revealed the German marque\u2019s goal during the 2021 edition of Auto Shanghai<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">today, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/autoshow-bmw-aiming-quarter-china-sales-be-electric-vehicles-by-2025-2021-04-19\/\">Reuters reports<\/a>. He also announced that BMW will launch 12 electric models in China by 2023.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/fast.wistia.net\/embed\/iframe\/avz903cxvd?videoFoam=true&amp;autoplay=true&amp;silentAutoPlay=true\" title=\"Bumper 06 Video\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen\" allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" class=\"wistia_embed\" name=\"wistia_embed\" allowfullscreen=\"\" msallowfullscreen=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">BMW, said Goller, is examining the possibility of expanding its production in China, although nothing is certain yet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Despite issues with Huachen Group, the parent of its main China joint venture partner, Brilliance Automotive Holdings, Goller stated that their operations will not be impacted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Huachen Group, parent of Brilliance, went into <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/news\/international\/business\/how-huachen-the-parent-of-bmws-china-partner-drove-to-the-brink-of-bankruptcy\/articleshow\/79440521.cms?from=mdr\">bankruptcy restructuring<\/a> in November 2020, following a period of overreliance on BMW\u2019s profits, and defaulting on a 1 billion yuan ($151 million) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/news.cgtn.com\/news\/2020-11-20\/Parent-of-BMW-s-Chinese-JV-partner-goes-bankrupt-VzuqEPtVhS\/index.html\">bond<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">BMW\u2019s aspirations\u00a0 come as part of its overall objective that by 2030, 50% of its global sales will be made up of EVs. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p><i>Do EVs excite your electrons?
