This crook has green thumbs \u2014 and sticky fingers. <\/p>\n

Residents in a corner of tony Brooklyn Heights say they are being terrorized by a serial flowerpot thief.<\/p>\n

The perennial planter-pilferer app<\/a>ears to have hit at least two stoops in brownstone-lined Willow Place last Friday \u2014 but locals say the flower prowler has been active for several months. <\/p>\n

\u201cI woke up and all of the planters were gone,\u201d said one victim of the vanishing vegetation, Martin, who had four plants disappear on Friday.<\/p>\n

Across the street, a woman said a large, brown glazed flowerpot was snatched from outside her brownstone, also on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just walked out one morning and it was gone,\u201d the woman, who asked to remain anonymous, told The Post on Monday.<\/p>\n

Incensed, she put up a sign that read: \u201cDear coward who stole my pot, my mother gave that pot to me. She\u2019s a social<\/a> worker, and doesn\u2019t have much, but she works hard and gives what she can. And you just steal. Hope you enjoy the pot, you selfish jerk.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her aim was to point out that, \u201cyou don\u2019t really know what you\u2019re stealing from somebody, if it\u2019s something personal.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd why? What\u2019s the point? It wasn\u2019t worth anything,\u201d she added. \u201cIt was a gift from my mom \u2026 It was just very petty. Like, why do that?\u201d<\/p>\n

Martin, who has lived in the charming micro-neighborhood known as Willowtown since 2013, said he never had any problems until December, when four of his planters vanished.<\/p>\n

Then, in January, Tim Hoenig, who lives around the corner, said three planters were swiped from outside his brownstone \u2014 and another two greenery receptacles were taken from his next-door-neighbor\u2019s place as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou feel violated and victimized,\u201d he said, \u201cand it\u2019s hard to rationalize why someone would do this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hoenig, 45, said he filed a police report in the hopes of catching \u201csome idiot trying to sell my plants,\u201d which were 10-year-old \u201cnever-die\u201d plants.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey had lived here a long time,\u201d he said of the greenery. \u201cThese were living things. They were part of the building.\u201d<\/p>\n

Martin also reported Friday\u2019s theft to police, and, as The Post was speaking with him on Monday, an NYPD neighborhood coordination officer came by to take a report and look for surveillance footage.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou start to question why you\u2019re living here,\u201d he said. \u201cWhere you pay more money and more bad stuff happens.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some residents are also questioning whether to bother investing in greenery anymore.<\/p>\n

Hoenig said he\u2019d considered getting replacement planters for the ones that disappeared, but, after hearing about the more recent thefts, \u201cWe\u2019ll have to get chains and anchor them to the wall.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mary Ann Palestino, 75, who has lived in the neighborhood for her whole life, said she was thinking of canceling an upcoming plant order over the thefts.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour plants are an extension of your home,\u201d she said, \u201cand when someone steals them, it\u2019s really sad.\u201d\u00a0\n <\/p><\/div>\n
