“#Man busted after allegedly shooting at cops during NYC gun battle<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

A man was busted after he shot at police when they responded to a Harlem gun battle late Monday, authorities said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Two groups of men were shooting at each other on West 142nd Street near Chisum Place when officers arrived around 11:20 p.m., cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As the officers app<\/a>roached, one of the men turned and fired a shot at them.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Police returned fire, letting off an unknown number of rounds, authorities said.<\/p>\n

One of the suspects, believed to be the same man who fired at cops, then holed himself up in a nearby apartment, according to cops.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Officers followed a bloody trail into the apartment, where the suspect squeezed off another round, Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said on \u201cGood Day New York\u201d Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have an individual in that apartment that then fires a round out the window,\u201d Shea said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He then discarded the gun on the building\u2019s scaffolding, and lay down inside the building, allowing the NYPD\u2019s Emergency Services Unit to take him into custody, police sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The suspect had a gunshot wound on his hand \u2014 though it was not immedia<\/a>tely clear whether he was shot by cops or wounded during the initial gunfight, according to police. He was taken to Harlem Hospital, with charges pending.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The officers were unharmed, but were checked out for ringing in their ears.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cops are still looking for the other people involved in the gun battle, though an exact number of suspects was unclear.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
